9 o'clock in the morning
I'm yawning
Can't get out of bed
Am I still dreaming?
'Cause it seems that this feeling
The music I'm hearing
Is playing only in my head
My soul is becoming lifted
I'm watching it try to fly away
All I know is want to follow
Such a beautiful way to start the day
Surely I'm tired
Now Suddenly inspired
Oh yeah - No more words need to be said

SEVENTH PHOTOGRAPH
I can tell you
My life's story
In just six photographs
That I carry inside my wallet
And three of them are cats...
The other three
Beatiful women
As our lives crossed paths
Never would I
suggest ever changing
a person, my place or my past...
I'm feeling the need
to pick up my camera
So I'll be back in a flash...
He left but he never came back
Never...
Came...
Back...
After he set out searching for the seventh photograph
[Sticky note]:
For this story
begins
after the fact...
---
Whether or not to serve power
to [scribbled out] to the pretty [scribbled out]
go pulling in this garden of flowers
weeds or when it's time to work.
on as we like everyone else [scribbled out] we're gone

The sun awakes another
To [?] start [?] day
although we know
He's never gone away
Unlike the man in the moon
who sleeps all after noon
[?] Takes a big long nap
at the end of june
The rings of saturn
flail and [?] dance around
---
I'm the exception to your rule
Haven't had six beers in a hundred years
---
Since I stopped swimming I've barely
been treading water
Forget losing or winning
I'm getting that sinking feeling
That I'm washed up cannon fodder
---
See saw
You can only be down when you're alone

The words on this page
The toilet paper song
Wipe with Left
Shake with Right
That's the secret...
The meaning of life
When you walk into the outhouse
Check for toilet paper first
Or else you might have to switch hands
And sing this song in reverse:
Then it would ee
[crossed out: Shake] Wipe with the right
Shake... Hmm... hmm... hmm...
Hell, shake with the right, too
Might as well be like everyone else
Keeping one hand clean [crossed out word] for you..

I am not here
I am someplace else
In a room full of people
I am all by myself

The words on this page
I've got a brand new method to my madness
Time to test the powers of positive thinking
Water from the well of being is what I should
be drinking
Stop drowning myself in this sorrow and sadness
Clenses my body and soul better than I thought
it would
Slowly I'm gaining control of a lost part of me
My broken pieces becoming whole they're soddered good
Staying here is my goal it's a better place to be
This is a true original
Just like the first smoke signal
But it's not a symbol of danger
Why should we be afraid of a stranger?
As we have grown
Time has told
As history unfolds
We're not here alone
Even difference unites
On the coldest of nights
We all need someone to keep us warm
As we all seek shelter from this storm

I'm getting angry
Unhappy
If I start crying
Please slap me
Just put me in my place
Slap that frown
Right off of my face
You see I'm in a delicate state
Been like this for years
How much longer do I have to wait?
So many emotion
Though only heart break
Is constant
Do whatever it takes
For that's how bad I want it
Yet the only face I trust

TOAST
by tom jensen
While it lasted
It sure was fun
But now...
"Look out Hooverville...
'Cause here I come!"
Been living in a commune
And sharing this shack of mine
With a fellow tortured soul
That I met in the breadline
(free bread!)
His loaf was too crusty
While mine was three days stale
Still the time it was a pleasant one
Despite what you'll call 'our meal'
Once we feasted on fresh pheasant
And perhaps a glass or two of champagne
We toasted as the sun was setting
Now a toast: "Shall it shine once again"
While it lasted
It sure was fun
But now...
"Look out Hooverville...
'Cause here we come!"

Two days and you are feeling excited
Two days away from
the next stage of the plan
Two days until you travel back
Eager to share all you've learned
And the wisdom you've come to understand
One more day of highs and lows
One day to think about what has changed?
Inside of me I think I now know
How the rest of this story shall be told,
What shall be left out and
What shall be rearranged
YESTERDAY'S SONGS
by tom jensen
There is danger
Out on the street
Faces of anger
For you to meet
And some even stranger
Others you can't see
The chosen that always were
Along with those that'll never be
Their engines are burning
You can feel the heat
Though some keep on turning
Down a dead-end street
So here is a warning
To you from me:
Don't ride that train
Pick your brain
Then pick a lane
And when in the rain
Don't drown or be washed away
In the wind don't be blown astray
It's a sin that'll haunt you everyday
For your end begins once you start
Singing songs about yesterday
Five days to live in a moment
Five days left before time marches on
Five days to give the breath of life
To all the words you have spoken
Five days remain until you are gone
Four days says the calendar
Now hanging before you on the wall
Four days to better know yourself
Four days to see if your life
Belongs to you or to someone else
Four days left of pacing the halls
Three days then came the hurt
And doubting of my own self-worth
Three days left that's the time you get
To flip flop back and forth

HUNCH
by tom Jensen
Doesn't it suck when it's true
Nobody believes in you
Once upon a time
Yeah, maybe they used to...
Ah...but that's a fairytale now
What if one morning you woke up
And didn't love yourself at all
Would you bother to get of bed? out
Should anyone expect a call?
Been so stationary lately
A caged yellow canary crazed
So don't you come near me
Loneliness and despair
no longer fear me
I stopped singing that's when
I become a danger to the world
Lying in bed staring at the ceiling
I hear the music playing in my head
Then I get this feeling of dread
Maybe today's a good day to stay in bed
You know we all get this inner fright
A hunch that nothing will go right
This sinking feeling that you're doomed
Whether or not you even fight
Turn back out that light
It's time to say good night
Trying all the while not to give in to the paradox
Of living in sin and yet preaching bullshit walks
Climbing the walls like a spider on a string
Just because you can doesn't mean you've
Got to demean yourself by trying everything

DRINK MORE WATER
by tom jensen
I came inside and knocked my boots
Finally I shook off and kicked
these winter time blues
Suffice to say it's all because of you
When you went away I needed something new
So this time...
Rather than run to you for help
I've begun to look first towards myself
I'm no longer scared or afraid
What's that phrase? No guts no glory?
For Eric Burdon, he once told me
That, "Everybody has got a story"
And then he said, "Drink more water!"
That's some good advice...
It could save your life
I came inside and knocked my boots
Finally I shook off and kicked
these winter time blues
Suffice to say it's all because of you
When you went away I needed something new
Something... That's been lying dormant
and latent within me
Something... I've always had but needed
another to bring it out in me
Something... You shouldn't keep hidden
but let it out for all the world to see
Something... That which we call strength
and having faith in one's own capabilities

UNDEFINED
by tom jensen
I let her know
That I let her go
Love her more
than I love myself
And I told her so
Had to set her free
'Twas best for her
And best for me
For I knew we'd
meet again eventually
Since after all we'd become family
Pretext and context left undefined
Just the simple proof of love...
A weaving of hearts and minds
We're all woven
We're not made
Maybe there's a great creator
But there sure
ain't no great escape
I was searching for answers

WORTH A SHOT
by tom jensen
So now where do I turn?
Once my passion for patience
Its wax and its wick
I have watched its slow burn
Leaving me without a light in my life
So now where do I turn?
Tell me where does it lie?
That magic spark
That touch of sunshine
That once emanated from my eyes?
(brightening up the darkest skies)
Will it come back again?
Or is this the parting of great friends?
A dawn without daylight
One long night that never ends
Hopefully all I need to heal
And cure me from my disease
Is a little rest and peace
In my own back yard
Alone by myself without
Anybody fucking with me...
(now, could I get that, please?)
I'd be ever so grateful
Perhaps I'd even stop
Thinking so many thoughts
That have turned cold and hateful
(yeah, you're right...probably not)
But at least it was worth a shot

POINT OF REFERENCE
by tom Jensen
You keep waiting for your eyes to meet
Two lives become instantly changed forever
Sometimes you believe that day may come today
Other times you think to yourself never
That's why god made the Russians black
Or maybe white depending on your preference
That's why when I go out I'm never looking back
Because by now I've lost all point of reference
Ha ha ha...
(My plan worked to perfection)
I was feeling stranded and left
By the side of the road
Only seeking tranquility
And a place to call home
Until we met when I said,
"Meow baby, you wanna go roaming with me?"

HERO'S SAGA
by tom jensen
A man once chained to stone
Finally managed to break free
Yet he still remained alone
His misery was the company he keeps
Surrounded by his paper walls
His one dream was to be free
Though no one could ever see
What his destiny was meant to be
After giving his mother one last kiss
He kept smiling all the while believing
That anywhere was better than here
And anything was better than this
He changed the clothes that he wears
And even the part in his hair
Setting out for some place new
Even if he didn't know where - he didn't care!
There are so many things
a stranger might not understand
Being so unknowing
of danger as only a loner can
Seeking fortune and fame
from the moment he came
Slowly expectations and reality
have drifted so far apart
When the moon's the only man
who knows where you are
The sun would've tried to guide you
if not for all of the stars
There's some dark figure
guarding the top of the hill
Someone ask if we'll ever escape
No, I don't think we ever will
Nuclear holocaust
The end of our time is near
The missiles are approaching
All the people tremble in fear
The order of words is important
You'll find meanings can change
When he or she who sits aloft atop
Of the see-saw falls off and then says:
I saw...
I conquered...
I came

CHEMISTRY
by tom jensen
I am too idealistic I will confess
Maybe that's why it's taken so long
I'm too young to settle for second best
But I began to think that I was wrong
Maybe second rate wasn't second best
Since no one's ever passed the test...
Until I studied you and you taught me
A lesson in love called chemistry
No I never would have believed it
Talk about extra credit
Never before could I even conceive it
I find myself asking if I really said it?
I was wasting away day after day
Living from hand-to-mouth
Navigating but losing my way

HARD TO HEAR
by tom jensen
This is the train...
that'll lead me outta here
Gotta get when the gettin's good
And now's my time...
the coast is clear
When you've gone too far
you can't turn back
When they don't know your name
they never cut you any slack
Get back on track
Can't call this home again
Don't look back
Time to get on the train again
They say there's a heaven
but this sure ain't it
Just trying to find
a place where I fit

WILL DO
by tom jensen
I've come a long, long way
the last couple of years
I've fought my share of demons
until they disappeared
Finally as I look now
the coast seems clear
I know it's time to start to rebuild
but I don't know where...to go
I don't know...what to do?
I don't know...what type of seeds I'm gonna sew
I don't know...I just haven't got a clue
I don't know... what to do?
I've penned 'a many sad, sad song
And shed a few tears
I've had my share of lovers
Who've all seemed to disappear
To each one true
To each one dear
But the burden of it all
Was just too much to bear
For you know I don't know what to do
I don't know I just haven't got a clue
I'm still looking for the perfect hole
In which my seed can grow
But I know that not just any old hole will do...

OH YOU KNOW
by tom jensen
I miss the morning you...
Oh honey, you know it's true
I miss my bus stop brew
As I'd take a little time
For you know who
I miss all the amazing outfits you wear...
Those clothes that'd make my eyes close
Whenever we were heading
Either up or down the stairs
Oh you know how I love to stare...
Oh you know...
Oh you know...
Oh you know...
It's called catch twenty two...
When you always want what you can't have
And good is never good enough
Oh you know...
Oh you know...
Oh you know...
It's called catch twenty two...
When you loved me I ran away
I loved you but then I couldn't stay
Ain't that always the way?
Oh you know that's always the way...
Why is that always the way?
I don't know why that's always the way...
Oh you know...

HARD WORK
by tom jensen
I make the worst girls smile
And the best girls cry
I do it all with love
Just because that's my style
I work my hardest for those who can't pay
Think about that thought for a moment
Alright...
Okay...
You're right...
It's a hard way to make a living
But if you could see the smile on my face
At the end of the day
Maybe then you'd understand
Why when my name gets mentioned
People usually say:
I make the worst girls smile
And the best girls cry
I do it all with love
Just because that's my style

LIVING IN A JIMMY BUFFET SONG
by tom jensen
You know you were drinking
too much for too long
When you find yourself living
in a Jimmy Buffet song...
I overextended
my stay in Margaritaville
I'm still wasted this morning
and will be for most of the day...
Now some people claim
That the worm is to blame
Why my brain feels like
it's been scraping asphalt
I've just gotten to know
Some guy named Jose Cuervo
Yeah, we've been
hanging out together a lot
I woke up hung over
and feeling depressed
Looked to my right...
How'd I get myself into this mess?
Felt someone leaning
on my shoulder
Man, I've got to get
this weight off my chest
It seems that last night
I rode the fat girl express
I was sick to my stomach
Had a bad taste in my mouth
I heard a noise in the bathroom
And another one ton came out
Just like the rubber
I used her and was then intent
on throwing her away...
She knows (and she knows!)
I don't love her
So I have no idea why she stayed...
No idea on why she stayed...

PLEDGE
Globalization without exploitation
should be the pledge of this next generation
The driving force
The goal set forth for this new mileneum
More songs that unite... / That's right... I'm penning them...
So who is with me? ((thunderous clapping
and applause/cheers)
Alright now who's against me?
(solo person clapping fades out)
[heavy scribbles]
The only weapon you need is love
To destroy any potential enemies
It's thoughts like these
That makes me
The most dangerous man in the world...
Someone that can teach
These [scribbled out word] beliefs
To all earth's little boys and girls
Mother
Every Arm in arm, hand in hand
That's the one nation for which I stand

Welcome to poor
judgement theatre...
I am your host...
everybody
here is
pale as a ghost
Yeah we watch the
world spinning
round and do our
best to fit in...
But lately we've been
gettin' that feeling
that we're slowly
sinking...
yeah we're slowly
sinking... our time
spending what's left
to believe in?
We find we're
fallin' behind and
Searching for the reason?
Yeah.. we're
searching for the
reason:
Be it old school
corporate greed
From those trying
to sell us something
That we don't need

The words on this page
[sheet 1 - lined legal sheet, four lines under a scribbled-out block]
When you become freed from the disease of please
Is when you begin to build walls that only others can see
You take all you need and often times more
An [crossed out] unwinnable game [crossed out] always trying to score
[crossed-out line]
---
[sheet 2 - full lyric; UNWINNABLE by Tom Jensen written up the left margin]
Culture vultures circling the sky
Off our self doubt is what they thrive
It's either the daily dodge or else face the grind
Something finds you every time you hide
Given time and sobriety
You can reshape your reality
In this Kaleidoscope world
You can clearly see
Sometimes [crossed out word] you pay a hidden fee
On what ya thought was free
It's not all about material goods
[crossed-out lines]
Talking 'bout a man [crossed out word] all alone in the woods
When noone is watching what does he do?
[crossed-out line]
Are honor and integrity things that he holds true?
what one does to others
will some day be done to you
As the company you keep
will one day keep you
Given time and sobriety
You can reshape your reality
In this Kaleidoscope world
You can clearly see
Sometimes you pay a hidden fee
On what you thought was free
I bathed in dark energies
All the while absorbing light
Living in between two planes of existance
As [crossed out word] the day became my [crossed out word] morning
And the morning my night
Wrong has always been wrong
But now it was all right

The words on this page
UNDEFEATED by Tom Jensen
I AIN'T GOT NO PLANS this minute
So I'm seizing the moment - I'm in it
I'm not losing or winning - Just present
Not up, not down - I'm all around
From the cities to the towns
to the horses and the plows
Not just the black or the White
But every face in the crowd
If you can see it, you can be it
If you wish to delete it then don't repeat it
Some Good advice to those who seek it
Though those luckier than me might not need it
Sure you can try to pin for the win
When the argument becomes heated
But a sly guy vies for the tie
Because Father Time's undefeated
What about space? That's a whole 'nother race
We started with moon then wouldn't you know pretty soon
It was on to mars and that's just so far
There's more in store we keep raising the bar
I'd rather not Roam stick closer to home
Preserve what we have before it's all gone!
