THE TOM AND TOM SONG

THE BODY:

I work with JD
And I work with Rob
My guy...he's pretty fancy
My guy...well, he's kind of a slob
(SHOW VIDEO OF JD PLAYING AND THEN A VIDEO OF ROB DANCING WITH MOP)

Me...I just write the lyrics
And I...I write the lyrics, I sing, I play guitar, I ________, I ________, I make the videos...I could
go on and on and on...
But you wouldn't do that would you?
- Oh, you are so wrong!

But like I was saying...
Sometimes I work with Tyler
And...umm...I work with Rob
My guy...goes to college for music in Kentucky
Umm...Rob's got a job...

(SHOW HANDSOME TYLER AND THEN ROB DOING SHITTY JOB)

Me...I'm just a shade over thirty
And I'm old enough to date your mom
But you wouldn't do that would you?
- Oh, you are so wrong!

(SHOW PICTURE OF DANIEL BONAIRE DRESSED UP LIKE A WOMAN - I'VE SEEN IT )

- NO, I wouldn't do that

Sometimes I work with Bryan
Stuck with Rob
My guy... plays live at a club in China
My guy sings to his dog

(SHOW ROB IN TRUCK WITH DOG)

Me... (fill in the blank mr. poet)
________ (fill in the blank mr. poet)
But you wouldn't do that would you?
- Oh you are so wrong!
---
STUPID GOD FREAKS

I am still alive
(cigarette hangs from mouth)
Even though I try
to kill myself daily

I'm still breathing...
(cough)
but just barely

Someday I'm gonna die
Perhaps that why
I don't choose fact
But fiction
When it comes time to talk
Over the subject of religion

I have realized
That there's something
Greater, more important than me
I am just another ant
In this hurried race
To hell with humanity
Because I found Christianity

And I am learning my place
When to sit, stand and kneel
I'm becoming a nameless face
But hey...they say I am healed
So I boarded their bus...
But soon there was no
driver at the wheel...

The guy dressed in black
He was in the back
Spreading the word
to all the little boys

Once they began
to cry and shout
That's when the driver
had to get out...
When he could no longer
turn a blind eye

Something...
something that rhymes with smile
La la la...hmm...pedophile!!!
I'll give you just one guess
who's now unemployed...
Hey, by the way...
does anyone need a ride?

The words on this page
Dawn is nearing
The fog is clearing
I can finally see my reflection
---
[Printed poem; each of the first three stanzas is crossed through with a pencil X:]
When we first met I knew you weren't ordinary
Falling in love after an hour is quite extraordinary
Conversation with you sent a chill through my bones
You could tell the same about me when we talked on the phone

Best friends forever seems like such a bore
But like a dog on a porch I await to sneak in the back door
Love creeps up when you never expect it
And all this positive energy I have for you I have to direct it

Behind your blue eyes I could even follow the stars
If men deem you too worthy then I'll rot behind bars
On the day they tell me we'll never get any higher
Then I'll remove my shoes and walk across the fire

[Fourth stanza, not crossed out:]
To prove my self I'll race inside burning buildings
I will risk my life for any living soul you desire
The wind blowing oh so cold across the sea
[last line handwritten in pencil:] No longer chills me having felt your fire

Handwritten note in pencil, right margin:
never want to be
alone

[Two hand-drawn shapes on the right side of the page: one a rectangle with a diagonal line, one a square with a diagonal line]

See the beauty of being the first color of the rainbow
As you see where it shall lead
One by one the other colors will all follow

The rain clouds pass by
It's no wonder why
Because side by side
There's no need to be afraid

Parents and children run
Towards the happy tears of the sun
And together as one
That's how they spend the rest of their day

In this endless bliss of harmony
We get to see how easy it could be
The brilliant vibrant joy of life
Inside of you and me
Became so apparent when
The very first color felt free

To embrace their place
On the sky above
As a gentle reminder
That through courage we find love

Once you have everything in life there's nothing left but to give

---

I've done my share of soul searching

---

With a hundred dollars in my pocket
Love in my heart and my good name
I watched the Sun break through the clouds
And I began to feel happy again

I guess that's the power of mother nature
Good karma and strength of in one's soul
When all it takes is one happy moment
To remember who you are and regain self-control

Sure, the beer in my hand helped to lift
my spirits high
But it woulda brought out the worst in me
Had my life been based on the building upon
a series of lies

Yet when you search for eternal truths
And the essence of existence of it all
It's times like these when you know
that you will rise
When so many others would fall

Sometimes in the name of being selfish
You can find the greater good
As you understand your place in this world
things become as they should

The maid washes the floor
Feels the wind blow through the open door
She goes and vacuums the stairs
With the thought in her mind that life's not fair
Meanwhile
The mayor speaks at the parade
Of victory for the city's players
Who won the game on the big stage
Everyone celebrates with a smile on their face
The maid sweeps in the hall
With out much thought about how life evolved
Forgotten are the dreams she had as a child
And how the embers of hope they once ran wild
Meanwhile the mayor congratulates the winning team
Preaching about how hard work

The words on this page
With a hundred dollars in my pocket
Love in my heart and my good name
I watched the Sun break through the clouds
And I began to feel happy again

I guess that's the power of mother nature
Good karma and strength {struck: of} in one's soul
When all it takes is one happy moment
To remember who you are and regain self-control

Sure, the beer in my hand helped to lift
my spirits high
But it woulda brought out the worst in me
Had my life been based on the building upon
a series of lies

Yet when you search for eternal truths
And the essense of existence of it all
It's times like these when you know
that you will rise
When so many others would fall

Sometimes in the name of being selfish
You can find the greater good
As you understand your place in this world
things become as they should

6 As Ignorance grows bliss with the setting sun

1 Still air can define a lifetime
2 Just as swirling breezes can become too strong
3 Sometimes what's needed is to be thrown a life line
4 To know it's alright when everyone tells you you're wrong
