STAKING THE FLAG
The Indians in teepees
Spoke English say
"In trouble deepie"
The cavalry is
Just about to charge
No dancing with wolves
When you're waltzing with Custerd
Forced into building casino's
And inventing new mustard
The pilgrims with muskets
are now at large
Trade whiskey for deeds
Throw in a few Beads
Then you know it's in the bag
Put men on the moon
You know its never too soon
Sometimes you have to push hard
When you're staking the flag

MY BEST FRIEND
One day at a time
Step by step
Suck toxins down
With every breath
Hand in hand
Right by my side
When We went our seperate ways
A Part of me died
In my time of weakness
I was never alone
Despise the day
Tobacco seeds were sown
My twenty friends
Though small in size
Became my foes
Whom I now despise
The truth is clear
They kill you slow
No pleading ignorance
For Everybody knows
When

THE GAME
The coach called my number
So I stepped up to the plate
The pitcher threw the ball
But I swung too late
Two strikes left
I'm down in the count
I can't give up
As I hear the fans shout
The pitcher throws the ball
After he checked the sign
A ball way outside
But the empire is blind
He called strike two
As the catcher smiled
I'm down and out
Swinging at anything that comes
In the bottom of the ninth
And we need a homerun
The pitcher does
what he must do
He threw the ball
AND I swung right through
Now he's jumping up
with his fists tightly clenched
I walk with my head down
Back to the bench

---

Time for the winners and the losers
To each go their seperate way
We both took our chances
In this game we play
Time to clear my ears
of their constant ringing
I took my shot
At least [crossed out: boo] I went down swinging
The stadium quiets down
After the outcome has been revealed
Everybody leaves the park
Only grass left on the field
Just my luck
The clouds begin to rain
As I scratch my head
And remember tomorrow
They'll be another game

Since I am a poet I will fight you only with my pen
I'll drag your name through the mud
And then drag it through again
No need for fists
Fighting will only leave you bruised
And everyone would just love to punch a lawyer
But youre the one who's K.O.'ed when he sues
I've learned that paper cuts never heal
When you're on the front page of the news
When made known is your reputation
I win and you lose

Since I am a poet I will try my very best
To seperate myself from all the others
In my attempt to stand above the rest
I shall search to write what hasn't yet been written
Though there's not much that Dylan left
So I am friends with the long road I am facing
And have been given some direction which to begin my quest
Been patted on the back and shaken many hands
And Told by gold diggers the way is west
But Before I brag of Dean's lists and colleges
Only time remains the truestest

The poorest chorus
I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
It walks hand in hand
with the dropping prices of real estate
[strikethrough: which is tied directly to the Walmartization of]
[strikethrough: of our country's citizens by magnates]
[strikethrough: whose raised by television and are illegitimate]

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
I'm seeing values and morals slowly
[strikethrough: And] a sense of duty to country disintegrate

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
[strikethrough: But] [strikethrough: more] [strikethrough: to] [strikethrough: it] [strikethrough: than] [strikethrough: just]
Supreme court rulings or what bills [strikethrough: get]
passed on the house floor on the senate

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
[strikethrough: Ideas] [strikethrough: seen] people getting loud but not taking a bath
in the aftirmath of [strikethrough: destruction] [strikethrough: and] Katrina open up the Floodgates

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
And all these kids having kids
who're raised by television and are illegitimate

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
Which is tied directly to the Walmartization of
our country's citizens by big magnates

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
The more get more and the poor get less
Your [strikethrough: big] mom and pop store has to liquidate

I've been watching the white trashification
of these United States
But it's never seemed to be an issue
brought up at any presidential [strikethrough: candidate] candidate

I've been watching the white trashification of these United States.
The more get more and the poor get less.
Your mom and pop store has to liquidate.
I've been watching the white trashification of these United States.
But it's never seemed to be an issue brought up at any presidential candidate

---

There ain't no money in saving the world
When you ask for contributions
People just look at you funny
And say you're nuts like a squirrel
Won't join in my little revolution
Would rather go home and [crossed out: keep] shine up their pearls
Their priceless heirloom For their little girl
Mistaking attrition for absolution
reign supreme
Yet when it's her time to [crossed out: take] [crossed out: over]
Everything worth saving will be gone
Just when she's entering her prime
There'll [crossed out: be] nothing but wall-to-wall human beings
And she'll be left to wonder where [crossed out: things] it all went wrong
Her parents never acted on what they were Seeing
Just Kept on folling the [crossed out: to] orders of the old regime
When it was then time to wake up they just yawned

---

There are too many lives lacking purpose
yet so many with misplaced ambition
Just what's the point of existence
If you spend your entire life going fishing
I never understood remedial repetion
By those who could make a real difference
They end up selling their soul
For a few dollars a pound
All the while believing they're fully in control
Sometimes I wonder if they've ever stopped and
looked around
Perhaps they're too busy managing their bankroll

---

This is no type of world in which to play
Not that it matters much anyway
where you are going is more important
than where you came from
Can you hear me speaking to you
my unborn son?

---

The next wave, you watch it come break and then come tumbling down
You stay awake,

---

Another monday morning
Following a sleepless Sunday night
Groggy, tired and yawning
seems to be the story of your life
[crossed out: it's amazing] [crossed out: do anything at all]
living off [crossed out: thirty hours of sleep a week]
Tossing and turning staring at the ceiling
[heavily crossed out illegible text]
[crossed out: Either that or else you were counting sheep]

Many of us know how you're feeling
Living off [crossed out: of] thirty hours of sleep a week
Tossing and turning staring at the ceiling
Either that or else you were counting sheep

Living [crossed out: from] paycheck to paycheck
Struggling just to pay rent
Tighten up your belt that hangs [crossed out: this] [crossed out: a] loose around your/net
Thursday night and an empty wallet
Wondering where it all went?

Two full time jobs barely keeps the expenses met
Just enough gas to get back and forth to your [crossed out: job]
A few walls and a simple roof above your head
Don't need a door with a lock
For you don't have anything valuable enough
to rob

Who is he to speak your name
Speaking softly, sweet and true

She is positively a woman
Who brightened up my rainy day

I've sat at every bench in this park
Both before and after dark
Looking out at an ocean oh so deep
When everyone else is asleep
I See the sailboats stopped
Lookin' Just like upside down lollipops
Watch gulls pecking [crossed out text] by the beach
But it all seems so out of reach
Take off my shirt to get a tan
Wondering about life's master plan
[crossed out text]
Just when my troubles start to fade away
I have to work soon so I cannot stay

As soon as your high something brings
you down
As soon as you smile something makes
you frown
As soon as you blink the second has
passed
As soon as you're first you [crossed out: end] wind up last

This world can be such a tease
As soon as my mind's at ease
Just when I think I have it made
Rain falls down on my parade
I've had my share of ups and downs
Cried like mimes and laughed like clowns
Been dwarfed by guilt
And knocked off my stilts
The bigger they are the harder they fall
And I've seen and done it all

The words on this page
His mama was a nurse and daddy sold jewels
A couple hard working stiffs but both were fools
If the kid got outta line they'd keep their cool
{struck: Inmates running the asylum making}
Never make a fuss leave 'em to the School

Too busy working to have to raise kids
Right there ya find where the problem is
When little boy breaks the rules daddy's too
drunk to yell
He tried to chase 'em {struck: down} up the stairs
but down he fell

When you make your own rules how hard can
it be?
Mom's lying on the couch while watching TV
It takes more to be a mom than
just making dinner
That is of course if you want your boy
to play the game of life and be a winner
His daddy read him beer bottles while my daddy
read me books

When life gets ugly you can't get by on looks
Me and my daddy played throw and catch
Him and his daddy played throw and
duck
When you got no smarts
You depend on luck
And when that runs out
It really sucks

All you need's a dick to be a father
It takes balls to be a dad
I wish he read this story
I really wish he had

Just a druggie looking for his fix
Wrong place, wrong time
Got bagged for possession

If you believe in lies
Then your hands are tied
Self-crucified
You are still chained

In elders so wise
From them the truth still does hide
Walk in trance of the hypnotized
Nothing has changed

And their surmons surmise
In faith there is no compromise
Deal with Problems yet to be rectified
Today and yesterday are the same

The day the Savior does rise
They shall all stand by his side
Though Countless have died
For religion's name

But what does it symbolize
When the only hope to unify
Is for the laws of science to be defied
When the earth's engulfed in flame

What does it signify
When men have yet to visualize
Every instrument of the orchestra harmonize
When every piece is on the stage?

Get outta my house

The carriage of gold which you both rode
Down the road on your wedding day
Some how became unhitched
And All the horses they ran away
After every mistake
Followed another excuse
As the chain started to break
She figured what's the use
She challenged you to a joust
When you called a truce
On her shield she wrote in your blood
Get outta my house

Hearts once ablaze afire
All of a sudden have lost their flame
Dreams previously together aspired
No longer remain the same
Coals in need of stoking
Have lost any chance of smoking
Leaving each night's watchmen pointing blame
The {struck: room} mood grows cold as time grows old
It's time to move south after fire's been dowsed
As you watched the steam escape from her mouth
On the night she said get outta my house

The words on this page
Fences... I see more fences springing up everyday
There are people paid to seperate people who are
lining up to stand in the way
of the profits of the prophets who
create the media slaves, yeah
who dictates who gets to divide the riches
who gets to go diving with the fishes
And who gets to {struck: escape} emigrate and escape...
before it's too late

Fences... I see more fences springing up everyday
Forcing us to chose sides in this great divide
between the people and the state
This state of confusion, this perpetual illusion
of entertainment, sex, sports, fear and hate
Like me you want to get away
Want to find yourself some kind of inner wealth
A reason to carryon, my dearest one, a reason to stay awake!!!

Fences... I see more fences springing up everyday
Seems [crossed out text] all those in line are blind to the times
either wearing rose-colored glasses or being kept in the shade
The trees are tall when you follow every letter of the law
[crossed out text] Straight to the "T" and yet fundamentally
I disagree to fully appreciate the fact that fences
when used as defences are completely senseless
Especially when humans become turned into machines

I see power serving power
[crossed out text]
I see snipers in the tower
I see faces of the crying
I see the truth [crossed out text] from people dying
I see walls keep getting higher
I see more kindling on the fire
I see people losing faith
Not being able to think straight

I... Challenge you...
To defend your beliefs
I... am the one telling you
you're surrounded by thieves..

They are... deceiving you
So they can get what they need
And we are the ones who [crossed out text]
[crossed out text]
Are falling to our knees

GAUGING TIME
Cracks upon the walls
Pacing up and down the halls
Walls are closing in
The end will now begin
Freedom stripped away
Today mirrors every other day
Time is growing old
And what a price we pay
You don't gauge time by a clock
Hanging on the wall
You cross out days on the calendar
that's hanging in the hall
The time you got in
That's not what it's about
It's the days you got left
Before they let you out

{struck: PROCESS}
STEADY CALM
When we are the many
And they are the few
We shall never be forgiven
FOR WHAT WE FAILED TO DO

When the time came
When it was time to ACT
We turned our backs
Clinging to made up facts

Children crying on their mothers arms
Fathers dying in wars like Vietnam
Vacant eyes
Formaldehyde smell
Following the trail
YOU KNOW SO WELL...

Hence the noose around the neck
Legs dangle in front the gable
dance and
---
There's a curtain of silence
Now draped over your island
It blows in from the high lands
where everything's in ruins

Many were trapped there stranded
Left right where they were standing
Those poor fools lacking the tools
Who got caught not knowing the rules
Still [?] [?] needs you

Healing takes time
To mend a broken mind
When the wounds cut deep
To all the way in side

As my luxuries have become necessities
I'm being slowly stripped of my spirituality
This lack of harmony within humanity
Has begun eating away at me

I can't decide if this is a side effect
Or the scheme behind the plan
I don't know where it's going
What I was or who I am

Positivity triggers mental agility
While negativity kills our ability
To forsee a future better than the present
As intuition tunes us in to what isn't evident

Every pauper's voice shall be equal to the president's
When we get things right no more will we be hesitant
To speak out against what we feel isn't right
Sometimes love heals othertimes it starts the fight
---
[strikethrough: process] [strikethrough: of] [strikethrough: your] [strikethrough: fear]
In this struggle for survival
The key is the journey not the arrival
It's more the process less the prose
Where the wisdom's found by those who know
Tis best to walk around where the road don't go
As everything speeds up
Is when it's best to take it slow..

It quickens - the pace of the nation
And sickens - what some of us are facing
[strikethrough: Like] [strikethrough: Charles] [strikethrough: Dickens]
As the plot thickens - you forget what you were chasing
Those not stricken - stop sleepwalking and awaken
To all you spring chickens - can we unmake this [strikethrough: agonizing]
[crossed out word] aching forsaken creation?

I sense the sound of hesitation in your voice
I've found most of your fustration is by choice
Those afraid of confrontation shall be be coerced
To either stand up for themselve's or else lie down
in a hurse
Day to Day to day... Today is worse!

If you wanna make a amellette
Then sometimes you gotta break some heads
It don't pay to be a chicken
Forever sitting on unhatched eggs

Here at the feast not everybody eats
[strikethrough: those] [strikethrough: who] speaks
Not everybody [strikethrough: who] speaks
Even those who are able
But when the money's on the line
And the cards are on the table
Someone's bound to cheat
It happens every time
[strikethrough: hence] [strikethrough: the] [strikethrough: noose] [strikethrough: around] [strikethrough: the] [strikethrough: neck]
Hence the noose around the neck
Legs dangle in front the gable

Corona's at the beach with no women
at my side
Must be that time again to take
a deep look inside
A slice of lime to kill my time
A station flip as I take a sip
Problems must be uncovered
Before yourself is discovered
Time to sweep in the corners of
your mind
You can never be sure of what
you'll find
Maybe long lost dreams not as distant
as they seem
