5/10/00
It feels like friday night
But It's only a Thursday
all it takes is
something uplanned
to turn your
Best day to your worst
day
Another cold wet morning
past troubles come finding
you again
The world so fast is turning
That you go looking for
long friends
I never heard a single
whistle
Until I got ran over

One day...
A boy met a girl
Well, actually a woman
And in time...
They started to create some history
After she learned a thing or two about
adolescent psychology
But the boy didn't teach it, he lived
but still was it
He had the love in side - playing hide and seek
Thus she was still out of reach
And After one too many apologies
He didn't turn the other cheek
He just shut the door thinking
this time there's no more FORGIVENESS
He once wrote her beautiful poetry
Until he stopped believing that their
"Love" had symmetry
And then she moved - overlooking
the cemetery
And I mean, that both metaphorically
Symbolically and physically
I could never [crossed out: exactly] put my
finger on exactly what it was
That she ever did to me
To ever cause me so much, pain
and misery
---
Funny how the girl you once adored
Could make you take the name in vain
Oh Lord!
One day pleasure...
the next there's pain
One day it's sunny...
the next there's rain
Just when you think you've struck treasure
you hit A watermain
Only when it's some one else is it funny
Just think of Monica's blue dress and the...

Happy birthday though I have no card
I hope I don't get feathered and tarred
My mind was thinking awfully hard
And I had to walk a thousand yards
Its hard to travel without a car
With only my feet I don't get far
You know how pedestrians are
But I saved my money in a jar
And I decided to set out through the snow
I can't afford much case there's no grass to mow
But they say its the thought that counts you know
It isn't much but here you go

Smell the rebellion in the air
Has anyone noticed
That the president elect
His head is filled with gray hairs
Our grand fathers are all CEO's
While the grandsons are {struck: playing}
Watching music videos
Both are losing touch with reality
The future and the past is scaring me
Either too much money
Or too much skin
Ain't nothing changed
It's the same old problems again
Moderation is the new sensation
It's the foot steps of fathers
Reverberating the loud vibrations
Rise up Rise up
Smell the rebellion in the air
When the old and the new
Have each got the flue
There's no doctor in the house
Looks like it's all up to you
---
The infection of money
Is not quick to cease
Spreading and spreading
Like an air born disease
Trow away those phony pills
Blow your nose with those dollar bills
You can choose to be poor and cured
Or sick fithy rich
Though some might not know
which is which
Rise up Rise up
There's something in the air
But not everbody cares
Weap phony tears
Trying to muffle the lond
And quiet the fears
It's the same old problems again
Does daddy work seven days a week
Even though his kids have plenty to eat
Does mommy teach and cook and clean
And dicipline her kids when they get mean
When daddy gets home is mommy usleep
When daddy's not home do the children weep

The words on this page
A THOUSAND MILES ABOVE
She came from the land of sun
Flying through the clouds drifting above
Conquering new cities in the name of love
From a thousand miles away
To a thousand miles above
When we first met I knew she wasn't ordinary
Conversation sent a chill through my bones
Falling in love in an hour is so extraordinary
From that point on I didn't want to be alone
Before her I had loved and I had lost
Oh, but of course
Still I had to pay the cost
She got half when we got divorced
The mistakes I made I had corrected
Seems that love creeps up when you least expect it
She wanted my friendship, I wanted more
Best friends forever seems like such a bore
This feeling for you I have to direct it
Like a dog on the porch I await to sneak in the back

I see her dance and I feel it again
Will I feel better only time will tell
But I know it'll probably be the same
Until I hear those wedding bells
Its the same old feeling
That comes and goes
How long is it hear for?
Knowbody noes
Its back again
But only time will tell
If I'll suffer
The same old hell
She is taken
But only for now
Some way, I'll reach her
but I don't quite know how?
---
(cut everything after the first ---, from "Soulmates lost we no longer morn" to "When I'm anxious to awake": 6 blocks not on this photo)
Spirit alive has been reborn
Get this funny feeling deep down inside
Just sittin' in the car and goin' foraride
Feel my spirit flow outta my soul
A heart lost is a heart stole
I've lost my way in the fog
Blinded by the sun, choked by the smog
When I'm with you I see so clear
Troubles of the time just disappear
---
Come and see me some time
We've been playin' it by
the books for so long
Feeling lonely tonight
all alone I sing my song
Missing you is what I do
To pass the time away
Night falls its time to go to bed
You know how the saying goes
time to rest your weary head
But when the stars shine
in the sky
IT'S SO MUCH HARDER TO SAY
good bye
---
(You can see a million miles tonight
but you can't get any further)
The weight has been lifted
That comes with being gifted
The plates have just shifted
feel the weight being lifted
Tomorrow's another day
School books been thrown away
Homework tonight is planning how [?]
much to drink
Raise your glasses, you don't have to
think
Summer's around the corner
spring now fills the air
the weight has been lifted
Teacher's gone he is not there
---
Stuck in a rut caught in a jam
Up is down left is right
Hard to make it without your right hand man
You know he skipped town in the middle of
the night
He couldn't make it he couldn't take it
---
Walking in Dublin
talking to Leprachauns
walking in Dublin
Eating shamrocks As I walk on
RIGHT INTO A BAR
But they call it a pub
Using [?] Guiness as my desert
And potatoes as my grub
Met a gentle man named McDonald
who was eating french fries
Met a woman named Fiona
Who spoke of St. Patrick
But only told me lies
---
Woke up half dead
So I just laid in bed
I find myself believing that the best days were left behind
Show me a sign of better days ahead
tell me of a time
When I'm anxious to awake

Pool of Love
My desire bleeds
For what my heart needs
Though discovery is bleak
when what you seek
Is so hard to catch
As beauty is sketched
by the pen of blood
Filled from the pool of love
So easy to fetch
When the droplets bead
After the dam's sprung a leak
As wide as the Grand Canyon's creek
There's no escaping the flood

I see faces on the wall
Mimicing my reflection
As I am pacing up and down the hall
Without any direction
Eyes are crossed
The T's are dotted
I feel their stares
I've been spotted
My Conscience has been
Conscience multiplied
As Voices now have faces
fantasy and reality undivide
No longer kept in seperate spaces
The walls are now closing in
The faces now are laughing clowns
The future will show where I've been
The ceiling just came crashing down
Bloodyed flesh
Splintered bone
Together mesh
Into one alone

Rehab - day 1
PAYING YOUR DUES
You're in violation of your probation
So we're taking you down to the station
That's the first time I ever seen a cop smile
So I knew I was going away for awhile
With a six month suspended sentence hanging
over my head
They brought me to my cell with shackles
on my legs
Three hots and a cot
And a book about war is what I got
Well bitch and complain
I just may, hopefully
Two hundred pushups a day
will keep the bad men away
I have to wear them
These are my shoes
In this land of law
You gotta pay your dues
When the punishment is known before hand
You have to choose
I chose wrong
Guess what? I lose

I went out on a bender
Crushing ice in my blender
I went and dented my fender
Now rehab I have to enter
When everyday's the same
You're the only one left to blame
It's time to come back to earth
At least you're getting your money's worth
You'll be seeing stars
But at least it ain't through bars
Even still I don't want to play doctor
[crossed out word] with any doc
Alone and in his office
with the doors locked

CLOSER TO GOD
Some old man asked me if I went
to church
I told him god rested on the seventh
day but what about me
Calisters and blisters
I'm all black and blue
I wear my work
Like a bad tatoo
On the subject of religion
I have only one thing to say
There is only one sacrament
That I preach everyday
Every cigarette I smoke
Brings me closer to death
Which brings me closer to God
Smokers go to Heaven
They have a big ashtray
Put some money in [crossed out text] the basket
And you can smoke all day

As I stumble down the street
The street lights go out
All the people I pass
Are down and out
You see the difference
Between the have and have nots
You see the difference
Between the with and with out
I ask myself how could you live here
You must get numb after awhile
I say to myself anywhere but here
You must get dumb after awhile
Children playing in the dirt
Next to a man who lost his shirt
Everywhere you look
You see people getting hurt
To live here every day
A place where even the pigeons
They all fly away
You know I'm getting outta here
I suggest you shouldn't stay

As Wisemen and nobles are lowered into a casket
Both groups segregated by the pews of the church
Though each drop their money in the passing basket

a dime a dozen
There's a blue sky above
But the weather's still cold
Up there there's a rainbow
And everybody's searching for a pot of gold
After believing every story ever told
But me, I only want what is real
What I can see
What I can feel
No time for make believe
That's not the kind of life I lead
So I no longer beg and plead
With people who deceive
As soon as they say hello
I tell them I have to leave
They sell their kind
for a dime a dozen
They're here and then gone
All of a sudden
And so I live like a turkey in an oven
In A world that can be so cruel
With everybody making their own rules
And Thinking every encounter is another duel
Another corner turned, another fool
Those who could live in the artic and not keep their cool
Just Treading water in misery's pool
Being used as evil's tool
Following a carrot on a stick just like a mule
Some may call them an ass
But it depends on who you ask

This place is sucking the life out of me
Now I know how the Indians felt when
Columbus sailed across the sea
Washed upon their shore
Walked right through their door
Showed them their deepest, darkest fears
Then made them follow a trail of tears
This place is sucking the life out of me
Hour by hour I lose my dignity
Day by day they take my pride
Week by week by their laws I abide

ME, YOU AND HOOBIE DOO
Well ladies and gentlemen
It is time to tell a story
About a student who liked to earn A's
He knew what he had to do to make it
He knew that hard work pays
He had a nice perspective on life
He knew who he wanted for a wife
But for a long time
He let her slip away
He practiced all the words he would say
He's still searching
For the fairer sex woman
To make his live complete
Anyone who really knows him at all
Will tell you he's not the type
To [crossed out word] settle for defeat
He's been searching for so long
And he's written so many songs
Speaking like a prophet
But still he won't get off it
He wants to have his
Cake and eat it too
And there are certain choices you have to
Make
And you also have to learn from your
mistakes
This is something that he knows
But apparently she knows it too
There's only one thing he won't do
And that is stop smokin' hoobie doo
She left and went away
Now at another's place she stays
As he's learning it doesn't pay
He saves up for his rainy day
There's no telling when it will end
There's no telling who's your new best
friend
Is a locked [crossed out word] door
Opened [crossed out word]
One that's never been entered before
No telling what's in store
And soon you'll understand
That nothing ever goes as planned
Your fate is decided
By how you handle adversity
You know I cannot hide it
I've been treated
The worse you can be
Every blow I've dealt to myself
And I cannot blame anyone else.

I do what I do
But at least I do it well
Will it get the better of me
Well only time will tell
Extreme in Nature
No moderation
Trade your future
For a new sensation
Hoping you don't end up
On a permanent vacation
But in this world
Both life and death -
Are cause for celebration
The waves are getting higher
But there's no place to dock the ship
You're starting to look tired
Let me give you a tip
If anyone waving a flag
Or someone holding a badge
When they come your way
Hey {struck: o} listen to what I say
You better run away
This ain't no place to stay

HUNDRED DOLLAR HEADACHES
I am no witch doctor or magician
But I can turn a hundred dollar bill
Into a head ache
They're not even counterfit
Much too real to be fake
Way back in the day
When we learned how to barter and trade
We all thought we had it made
But tell that to the man
Who's job it was
To have to dig out all the graves
Oh baby, I dig a little every day
Every time a little deeper
And it is here that I will lay
Oh baby, You know this wasn't my first
choice
When they asked me what I wanted to be
I lost my nerve and then my voice
So My name went back into the pile
Finally they called my number again
I was still innocent as a child
But they left me standing in the rain
They handed me a shovel
Then told me I had to start right away
That was many, many years ago
And I'm still digging today
---
I can turn a hundred dollar bill
Into one hell of a headache
I can turn a pint of V.O.
Into a hell of a mistake
And I will dig forever
We all make mistakes

Empty blue lines fill my head while white
lines fill my brain,
I'm tying my galashas while standing in the
rain,
My long hair flowin' in the breeze while others wait
in vain,
I know some who hurt themselves and those who run
from pain.
But me I come from a different breed,
A little less jealousy a little bit more greed,
I don't know you or what you've seen,
And you don't know me or the places I've been.
Sometimes you need to be burned by the sun,
Convincing yourself that you're number one,
Tomorrow it changes, back to the bottom again,
Though never the same your mind it will bend,
Nothin' left to do, Scooby doo comin' for you,
Better go and find a lucky horse shoe.
Young minds all around, knowledge can't be found,
I'm shining up my shoes for a big night on the
town,
But I'll probably come home when there's no one
around,
Though free from my handcuffs my hands are still
bound.
I'm stone cold like Austin after I'm slammed
to the ground,
After being up for awhile I find my way down.

I have known and lost someone
Forevery leaf on a tree
And as each one fell
Grew another seed
After spring has sprung
You must return to the roots that made who you are
When the sun has gone
You gaze up past the clouds to find your star
You know where it is just as you know who you are
As everything changes it returns to dust
All in all you know who what you can trust
Besides yourself is there any thing else?
Can you grab ahold if the world is gonna melt
Decisions you are faced with
Nothing can replace it
Nowhere to hide
Once you venture into the
Cave of your soul
Only you know what it holds
Do you find it?
Do you hide it?
Did you sign it?
Will you fight it?
Or do you defy it?
When all is said and done
Catch hold of the wave and ride it

I am the ballplayer Shoeless Joe Jackson. I got my nickname back in 1908 when I was playing in Greenville, North Carolina. I was breaking in new spikes and I got blisters on my feet something awful. I asked the coach to sit out but we were shorthanded and he needed me to play. I played in socks and ended up hitting a triple when someone out in the stands yelled, "Shoeless, you son of a gun!" I guess the name stuck. During my stay in the Majors from '08 to '20 I had a lifetime average of .356 and we won the Series in '17. The series of '19, however, was much more complicated than the one we were in a couple of years before. Before the '19 series I was known as "Shoeless" and people said that my corner of the outfield was "Where triples go to die." A year later I was banned from baseball and when my name was spoken of people usually said "Say it ain't so, Joe."
The year of the '19 Series, us Sox were the best team in the American League. We finished first and I ended up batting .351. During that season though, we were a divided team. There was a lot of hostility between Eddie Collins' group of guys and Chick Gandil's. Collins and his bunch thought that they were high class citizens and educated and stuff. They made around 15 thousand dollars a season. Us guys who weren't as educated only made around 6 thousand. We were always getting low balled by the owner because we weren't as educated as Collins and his buddies. That son of a bitch Cominsky

Why do you even try to be original?
You thought you were the first to discover fire
Until sadly, you spotted someone else's smoke signals
Went to the patent shop
It's big and round so you called it a wheel
Then you ran out to find a cop
Asking if you go to jail if an idea you steal
You put your head back down
And kept on walking
Muttering something about some cell
Someone should be locking
Usually the short end of the stick
Always a roll of the dice
Others only have to pay once
But you always end up paying twice
The blame is pointed
The burden is passed
You were the first in line
Only to be served last

Just heard such a laim band it makes
me wanna write,
If I saw them on the street those punks
would have to fight.
Wasting up our time with some made up
phrase,
If they got in my head they'ld be trapped
in a maze.
It takes more to be an artist than havin'
a cute blonde in the band,
I wouldn't say nothin' but lately it's gettin'
out of hand.
Sexy says "kiss me and I'm thinkin
outta my head,
If I'm her biggest fan maybe she'll
crawl into bed?
If you want reality you're better off
listening to me,
I'll be here for awhile before they carry me
off to sea.
If you're looking for information you know I'm
your safest bet,
In this world of uncertainty you take what
you can get.
They say its the easy way, livin' life on the run,
But I knew a man who did it he said it ain't
much fun.
It don't matter if you're number one or on the
bottom of the pile,
Sometimes everybody everywhere has to walk
the extra mile.
There's a man down the street who doesn't trust a soul,
He's never heard of a diamond coming from a piece of coal.

Now Does that ring a bell?

Too many stories too tell

OF THE DAZE
I used to be so increadably free
What the hell did they do to me?
I used to walk in the woods and breathe clean air
Now I try to go back there but they're not there
Doesnt anybody care
Does anyone dare speak up?
Has anyone had enough?
You say hello to someone
They respond with "who me?"
Put their head down and walk by
And I'm thinking "so sue me"
I should shut up they probably will
And I aint got to free time to kill
Every day's a race against the clock
You think it will but it'll never stop
Beware of the suits
Beware of the ties
Beware of the truth
Beware of the lies
It's all meant to drag you down
You know that's what I've found
Be careful of the badges
Be careful of the light
Be careful of the daze
Be careful of the night
Not everyone is here to serve and protect
And just getting home safely is a real project
Every path taken is not direct
Living around here what else would you expect?

The words on this page
Trapped in this invisable cage
Forced to live within the confinement of society
Walk along roads that they paved
Worship the idols that they made
Stray too far from the master's eye
He will yank on your leash causing you to yelp
Free thought and free expression
Has such a cost that few will dare pay
If they so chose to pay then they are
branded
with the devils conceit and called under
handed
Sacrificed for the good of the many
So that none will step out of line
Captain Courageous has been exiled
To a land of no sheep
Only wolves
Just where they would want a shepherd
to reside
Where only the birds hear his words
And only the stars heed his call
OFF in a foreign land of languages
That no one understands
He cries to the moon and prays to the sun
Tears and prayers never answered
The master must control them too
But one day the master will fall asleep
Leaving unherded all of his sheep
For even Achillies had his heal
To God even the Pope must kneel
Then the shepherd will raise his cane
Time for able to see the face of cain
---
No longer will the people be deceived
The true shepherd will be received
It shall be evident to every resident
That there is no need for any president
The shepherd will unite
While the master will urge all to fight
The battle lines will be drawn
As wrong versus right
The color of blood will be gray
The true color of people is neither white nor black
The day is coming... The shepherd is back

LIVING NEAR THE COURTHOUSE
When you're living near the court house
Trouble's bound to come your way
The law comes knocking at your door
Sorry but you're not serving jury duty
today
So many neighbors with so many eyes
Cops ask so many questions and tell so many
lies
No hand on the bible judge my friend
with handcuffs on there're no laws left to bend
when your living near the court house
you're living day today
Tell you all about it
But there's so much more to say
The midnight moon just rambles on and on
The poker player with a pair of deuces keeps
gambling on
and on
Tint the windows and close the blinds
Just like you've done so many times

A broken mirror lies shattered on the floor. / Beautiful patterns of distorted reflections. / Once one point of view now judged by many. / No hiding in the cracks of misgiven perception. / What was once smooth is now jagged. / Once pure now blemished. / So is life.

It's not that I don't love you but she knows how to play the game
After Mary Jane Things'll never be the same
It's hard to imagine being with anybody else
How could I love you when I don't even love myself
you
I gave away my heart once... just to
watch it break
(remove this line)
Only a fool would be taken twice by the
same mistake
