A hymn to Jim or John...
I get remorseful & hateful when I hear your voice
Still I must listen for I have no choice
Can't always turn it off and on
How unceartainly I react
Lost all faith in mankind
Can't think of any more questions to ask
The race has been run and I still don't believe
Like to take a few steps back
Tonight before killers & thieves
With all we've gained so much more we lack
One man brought a world to it's knees
Beatle murdered - The heddline was a fact
So many crying; why did John Lennon have to leave?
Hurts my ears, hurts my soul, kills my faith
Still I carry on your weight
I was two when you were dead
Even god gets a little slow
For I believe in some resurrections
When the wheels go round you just never know

The words on this page
TIME WILL TELL
Above my head I hear a clap of thunder
I can't escape this cloud I'm under
Maybe I am God's only blunder
Or perhaps I am the world's eighth wonder
Oh, only time will tell
Whether I'm closer to heaven or closer to hell
At least I know my story and I tell it well
There's something in the air but what do I smell?
The tip of the iceberg or the bottom of the well?
Either my name will be remembered just like King Richard the third
Or I'll just be another singer whose song was never heard
Will I be the lurer or will I be the lured?
Will I live by the pen or die by the sword?
Oh, Only time will tell
Am I closer to heaven or closer to hell?
I hear the voice of someone calling me
But I don't know his name and his face I can't see
Don't know if I'm locking the cell or finding the key
Because both God and the Devil are still a mystery to me
Oh, only time will tell
Whether I'm closer to heaven or closer to hell

Everyone close to me I push away
Everyone afar never looks my way
Is this pergatory?
Is this punishment for my sin?
Is this pergatory?
Nothing ends, Nothing begins
Is this my fate?
Will the grave I dug forever hold me?
Is this my fate?
Forever unforfilled, Forver lonely?
Is this my cross to bear?
Seems my pen is my best friend
Is this my cross to bear?
I turn around but noone's there
Isolation, desolation, desperation
Agrivation, Agitation, seperation
I belong to this world
Though it does not belong to me
I am bound to every ball and chain
All the while telling myself that I am free
Because that's what I need
A half-hearted belief
The reason people {struck: free} {struck: pa} pray
The reason people grieve

VISIONS
Am I setting myself up for a letdown?
Will the next season I see be Fall?
Will I smile for a moment only to frown?
Am I putting it all on the line just to lose it all?
Women I've met - the list is a mile long
Heartbreak I've suffered sometimes makes it hard to go on
For every heart I've mended Has been broken
All that's left is a poem or a song
Yet with every new face and each new passing soul
Time wasted comes alive and I feel I'm getting old
And what I've learned is that some things are out of your control
Will this time I rise above or sink deeper into my hole?
If you live in a cave you'll never see daylight
If you never get up on stage you'll never have stage fright
If you never do it wrong you'll never know when yo do it right
The only thing I have to believe in is what I saw tonight
My past tells me now this is good as it gets
But I've changed my ways though I have no regrets
We've entered a new year so place your bets
But you're dealing with a memory that never forgets
---
VISIONS con't.
By the waving of my pen you shall forever live on
Though everyone'll know about the rose in your bong
No matter what they think or say you'll just have to go on
Either with or without this poet named Tom
Be it by your culture or your ways I am so intreaged
Your words are my food and I am ready to feed
Perhaps you came along when I was in need
Maybe you are my Jesus and I need to believe
But don't let the weight of my world fall upon your shoulders
I've simply learned to seek what I want every year I get older
In this world of shapes I seek to be the molder
With global warming maybe life won't get any colder
All you need is love - I stole the Beatle's banner
In this earth full of impulses one must be a planner
With only one line left its time to ask you out to dinner
For in my mind I see only Visions of Johanna

PANDORA'S BOX
Inside
There is [crossed out: closed] Pandora's box
[crossed out: Nowhere] no face on the clock
As this new day begins so surreal and sublime
Watch a once high tide getting low
once
Gilde with the ebb and flow
As the sea dances in its endless pantomime
Tension has been released
Finally your mind is at peace
Being here alone is like traveling back in time
Lost freedom has been gained
How could you ever be the same?
Self-aware of a life [crossed out: without] ego or crime
[written below: lacking]
On the banks of this shore
One needs one's self and nothing more
No reason no rhyme and [crossed out: thus] everything is fine
[underlined: s]
No words that can hurt
No lessons [crossed out: needing] to be unlearned
Just a fire that burns but [crossed out: does] not scorch
Acting as a beacon, as a torch
helping to light the way
For all those who've been led astray
Neither at work nor at play
Is where I've come to find myself today

Hear so many voices which one's mine?

Drowning my sorrow in the bottom of my beer

One at a time we all grow old
Yes here at the bar I drown my sorrow
Because here at the bar there's no tomorrow
Sitting on my stool my mind will roam
Until I'm drunk and stupid and I go home
When you have a date with Jim Beam
Reality can become a dream
I sit here feeling all alone
Waiting for someone to take me home

I am now adding to the legacy
That is still ahead of me
But Some day it shall be left behind
As stories change and bend
Each time a tale is told
Yet what is carved in stone
Shall not warp in shape nor form
Even as time grows old
Will still [?] weather [?] any storm
BRICK Never freezes or cracks no matter how cold
Granite does not melt by [?] when the weather gets warm
It only acts as a strong foundation
For what is to be an unbreakable mold
One's cellar of thought is his only meditation
Where the only real chance to one day be at peace
simply another desperate situation
In Searching for something which is so out of reach
Both life and death are [?] always chained together
As Beginnings and endings will never cease
Because No man lives forever
The present is now
But it has just passed
When it's your time to go
Will you leave anything that lasts?
This quest for immortality
Is the one thing I hold dear to me
In life's harsh reality
(cut this --- and EVERYTHING after it to the end of the words box)
In this world who just don't have a clue
This girl I met last week
Told me I was kinda cute
So I came back tonight to see her
But now, in the rear view mirror
And I'm wishing I was some place else
'Cause she's two booths away
And she's sitting with someone else

SWIMMING COWS
The boat was sinking
What else was there to do?
So after some thinking
I knew what I had to do
Stared her in the eyes
This time without blinking
I And gently told her we were through
It's quite a rough sea out there
Be careful who you let on board
Often just when you think the coast is clear
You may be attacked (Oh Lord)
So I make sure I'm the one who steers
Because Unwanted passengers I can not afford
The crew which I trust so much
Not one of them can row against the tide
When they're weak I'll be their crutch
I will never leave their side
But only if I know I'll feel their touch
Upon my shoulder with a sense of pride
And though this may seem a bit much
But I'll yank out their tongues if they
ever tell me a lie
Lying's not allowed
Neither are sacred cows
Or All their bull shit!
I'm not a hypocrite
I've just gone legit

They told me I was born better
than any other race.
I learned that some people put a lot of stock
in thinking that you can tell alot just by
the color of someone's face
They told me these guys over here were quite stingy
Mamma said that they'd been like that throughout time and
she said that their beliefs were unlike mine. They reject the resurrection
Yeah once I dated one for three years and they
treated me like family - Always wanted the best for me
But don't worry now because she's now Norwegian by injection
> there were no wedding vows, besides
anyhow
They told me that certain segments of society
were bleeding our economy, morality and even our personalities
And that nowadays there's just too much variety
I learned that the Native Americans
once met many new friends. The indians
had the knowledge of the land, the trees, they sat
and ate turkey and cultivated corn

SOUL BAY
WHEN I WAS FIVE
My mother taught me how to lie when I was five
When I turn six I could get in and out of any fix
With just my tongue's tip in the blink of an eye
I'm telling the truth when I tell you that right on cue
I could make myself cry anywhere and anytime
Don't you know who I am?
I'm a very important man
Can't you tell with just your eyes
By this matching suit and tie
And these shoes and these socks
That I get paid by the pound
For getting bullshit to walk
(2)
(1)
(Never forgotten P.25)
I open the window
But I'm only looking out at the street
I think that I can see victory
Gotten used to the stench of
defeat
(4)
LOSING SIGHT
yeah, year after year
I've been losing sight of the light
And losing my will to fight
It's this seemingly endless monotony
That lately has been killing me
This is easily the longest day of my life

As a kid I thought alot
about how I once [crossed out: choked] almost
choked to death a cough drop (pause)
(reflect on the greatness...)
MY SYNAPSES GOT CONNECTED
So I thought some more
TO this day I've yet to stop
No I never been good
At holding a regular job
In fact it's never been my specialty
Holding on to anything at all
Especially when it comes to farming
Mother Nature, the pigs and the law
If you've ever lost your crops
You know you don't blame the weather
And it's never your fault!
---
CATS & COWS
I keep awaking to the sunrise
without a thought towards the day ahead
I can scarcely even open up my eyes
Before I want to stay in bed
Another day of misery for someone somewhere
The front page news, the television, a story on the radio
Sometimes it makes me doubt if there is really someone up there
But I guess I'll have to wait cause there's really only one way to know
Where can I go to get away
Someplace that's not too far
What will I have to pay?
My own shooting star
Someplace where my senses are keen
And my thoughts are clean
[Blacked out text]
Of all the indifference we have seen
I need a change in the scenery
Maybe I'll go out and find some greenery
Of course only if the law allows
There might not be any left any how
Perhaps we were better off
When we were worshiping cats and cows
[Blacked out text]
Perhaps we've somehow turned ourselves
Back into serpents and back into sows

Throwing rocks at sinners from behind my window pane
The only place that I was solitarily confined
Calling out everything and hated most people
Been crying out loud about how this city's self absorbed
Through all the shit no one's listened to My bitching and just I've grown old!

Hanging with the fossils and artifacts

There are still parts of me left to be explored
needing to get burned

After warding off their attacks
I have built my shelter

My poetry is my dying word

Well my days of drugs are over
I got lucky like a 4leaf clover
Happy saint patricks Day
The memories and the stories
will never {struck: go} fade away
Sometimes I reminisce
Seems like just the other day
white boy in dreds
puts a gun to my head
If he could afford bullets
I may be dead
Silly me, I gave him money for the stuff
Sometimes enough is never enough
Done somuch my heart could explode
He took my money to the store
Now he's got something to reload
Silly me, next wandering soul to come to the door
May not realize what's in store
The smell of death is all too clear
Must be something in the air

As I stand before the judge {struck: and see} he licks his lips
{struck: [?]} they're gonna hang me AND I KNOW
I think of all the led paint chips
I ate as a kid
I think they made me angry!
I wet the bed from warm ahh to cold
So I light a fire and watch it grow
Put in juvenile hall for not following the law
Got CAUGHT trying to steal a Jane's Addiction CD
punched mall security before LAPD got ahold of me
I'm white so I survived but that was close
Like a Narcan jam right after an overdose!
For the seventh time I'm standing up here in

i've been blown out to sea and derailed from my track,

My girlfriend is crazy but she don't get it from me,
i did all i could so i'll let her be.
I'm not too poetic for I shoot from the waist
When reality hits you like a slap in the face it leaves
Your mouth with a bitter taste

When pullin' don't work it's time to push.
