No matter where you go, pick any corner of the world
There's one thing I know, There's only four types of girls
Either For now, for later, for ever or forget it
But If she's any three of the, for then you'll probably regret it
For now comes and goes
for later will ease your woes
for get it never shows
But when forever is here everybody knows
There's no such thing as setting standards too hig
for when forever appears catches everybody's eye
I can't wait til they send her to boat
And I hope its always raining
she keeps practicing on me
God knows I hate unpaid training
When she leaves I'll take that flag
Wash my car, use it as a rag
when she
---
WAITING FOR WAR
I told my wife over coffee that she needed a hobby
I told her I thought she needed a change
When I came home from work she said she did something that might sound strange
Now she's always whining and complaining
Yelling at the top of her lungs
Get over here now and you better start your explaining
How 'bout where you been and what you done
Ever since she joined the reserves Army
Ever since she enlisted as a reserve
All we've been doing is fighting
And I think the neighbors have heard every word
I can't wait til they send her to bootcamp
And I hope it's always raining
'Cause she keeps practicing on me
God knows I hate [?] unpaid training
When she leaves I'll take that flag
Wash my car, use it as a rag
When she gets home [?] no telling what's in store
But she's not leaving soon without any war
Well There's no one to fight
So we still do battle every night
As I'm on my knees
I've never dreamed this is what I'm dreaming for
I pray that when I awake
I'll get out of bed and [?] there'll be a war
---
PARK THE CAR
I find my religion in the basement of churches
Never mind a few
Where I'm from can only be heard
The letter R can only be heard
In the beginning of a words I have
The tourists always say it sounds so absurd
[?]
I sit reminiscing it all
Go ahead and park the car at Harvard yard
Make your own alphabet it's not that hard
Something above myself can set me free
You can only tell what you're really worth
After you realize you're not the center of the earth
The sun does not rise for you
No matter how much you want it to
Gravity was made for many reasons
Something about the cream, and the moon,
And the changing of the seasons
Maybe be true
---
Alison's Airplane
I find my religion in the basement of churches
Never mind a few
Here I sit trying to learn from my mistakes
God knows I've made a few
If you've made as many as I have
Here I sit reminiscing it all
Biding my time by reading slogans on the wall
A higher power is what I need
Something above myself can set me free
You can only tell what you're really worth
After you realize you're not the center of the earth
The sun does not rise for you
No matter how much you want it to
Gravity was made for many reasons
Something about the ocean, the moon,
And the changing of the seasons
It may be true that it pulls down you down
But to walk the road ahead
First your feet must meet the ground
Then the rest is up to you
Use your better judgement if you want to
If you choose to walk back down from the road
from which you came
Don't point any fingers at me
Those fingers of blame
---
Alison told me she had an airplane
Of course I didn't believe it
So I asked her to teach me to fly
She told me I couldn't see it
The airplanes inside pears
You want to go for a ride?
At the time I didn't know what she meant
Now I realize Alison's Airplane is heaven scent
Vanish into thin air
Just another mystery
A puzzle noone can solve
First I am there
And then I dissolve
---
SHADOW OF SMOKE
Just a shadow of smoke
That's how I appear
Try to reach out and touch me
what you see dissapears
No living soul can reache me
first you see my face
Then gone without a trace
Vanish into thin air
Just another mystery
A puzzle noone can solve
first I am there
And then I dissolve
Just a castle of sand
Before the tide comes to me
And after a warm embrace
Carries me back to the sea
Back into the fog I fade
My own solitary parade
Back into the water I wade
Unable to undo all I have made
---
Bad Luck
I've lost my soul
through the horrors I've seen
Along with past desires
Of all I could have been
To the days of old
I can never return
Time passes slowly
when the memories still burn
I see children laugh
while young mothers dance
I know I have lived my life
And there is no second chance
---
Bad Luck
After you're dragged by a car
You won't make it very far
After you fall off the wagon
You're feet'll be draggin'
After you're ran over by the train
You got no one to blame
After the plane's wing's caught fire
You ain't going any higher
After the subway doors close
There's no telling where it goes
After the escalator stops
You'll have to walk
After you break your ankle after you fall
Down on your knees you'll have to crawl
After all this well then you're stuck
You can chalk it up to just bad luck
---
2 thousand miles above
She came from the land of sun
Parting the clouds floating up above
Conquering new cities in the name of love
From a thousand miles away
To a thousand miles above
When we first met I knew
she wasnt just ordinary
Our conversation sent a chill through my bones
Falling in love in just over an hour
Is so extraordinary
From that moment on I didnt want to be alone
Before she came I had loved
And I had lost, oh but of course
Still I had to pay the cost
She got half after the divorce
Well the mistakes I made I soon corrected
Funny how love creeps up when you least expect it
She just wanted to be friends still I wanted more
Best friends forever seems like such a bore
These feelings for her I have to direct it
So like a dog on a porch I wait
Waiting to sneak in the back door when she [?]
---
When I dream of her eyes
It's like staring at the stars
I soon lose my train of thought
And I go walking into cars
She could've killed me
Oh but what a way to die
Lying on the street
Seeing her face up in the sky
The day she tells me
We'll never go any higher
Is the day I sell my shoes
And go walking across the fire
The cold wind blowing across the sea
No longer feels cool having felt your fire
To prove my love I'll run inside a burning building
To rescue any one your heart desires
Even your dog or your cat
Tell me what you think of that?
Day after day, you still amaze me
Don't tell me no, you'll drive me crazy
Don't fan the flames
Don't burn me
I'm not so bad
When you learn me
---
Watch this!
Watch me disappear
I've finally made up my mind
Pack my bags I'm outta here
These lips aren't made for talking
But These feet are made for walking
Left, Right left, right
The door's open
The door's closed
What's instore?
Nobody ever knows
Some say the devil you don't
Is better than the devil you do
That's why some will leave
And some won't
Some won't replant the seeds they've sown
But they are not me
I'll choose the devil unknown
I walk away from pain
I carry an umbrella
While walking in the rain
Some will stay while blaming fate
I'm skipping town before its too late
---
All for one and one for all
It really makes no sense to hide it
That he thinks this and she thinks that
One man's fiction is another man's fact
Not every argument is one-sided
All for one and one for all
What was once on the way up is now going down
After empty words were spoken
The unity was a broken
The three muskateers have all skipped town
All for one and one for all
As an individual we are so small
But this isn't China, this isn't Japan
Noone wants to be part of any master plan
Society's foundation will crack without enough bricks in the
All for one and one for all
Quite similiar to an alcoholic's motto
They say take it a day at a time is at
It'll ease your mind
I guess there's no such word as tommorrow
---
All for one and one for all
The time that's wasting is now
But for your God or yourself
Maybe for me or someone else
To some higher power we each make our vow
All for one and one for all
What kind of future does this world hold
The terminally ill are getting sicker
Each coming day our children are growing up quicker
But what hasn't a price cannot be sold
All for one and one for all
The justice system of our country has no equal
Though the cases keep getting worse
After a movie is made everybody wants to be the first
In line to buy the sequal
All for one and one for all
The liberty bell keeps on ringing
Republicans and Democrats
Keep trying to find out where the sound is at
And until they do I'll keep on singing
---
All for one and one for all
You can sit staring at quotes on the wall
But I believe that Lincoln said it best
There's really no need to recite all the rest
United we stand, divided we fall
All for one and one for all
It takes many a seeds to plant a garden
And you better harvest before the frost
For if you don't all your work will be lost
I feel a wintery chill just starting
As people have no shoes on their feet
Life sometimes can get pretty mean
But you, you wouldn't mean
There's always someplace you can go
Daddy's cottage on the lake
His mansion in Boca for the sake
You never had to pay
Daddy only had to say
---
THANKS DAD... continued
To you everyday is Happy Thanksgiving
But what if I told you
To some it's always Halloween
Tricks no treats
Forget candied sweets
No treats were ever found
A place where vampires and grim reapers
Are always around
Happy Halloween
Say hello to defeat
As people have no shoes on their feet
Life sometimes can get pretty mean
But you, you wouldn't know
There's always someplace you can go
Daddy's cottage on the lake
His mansion in Boca Raton
You never had to pay for any mistake
Daddy only had to wave his magic wand
As trouble disappears
Life is chocolate cake
Do you even know what planet you're on?
I mean you have two feet for goodness sake
---
Out in the distance I hear someone calling my name
I guess even here I am still not alone
Only for solitude [symbol] the reason I came
To be out here so far from home
No matter where you go something will find you
You'll never break every chain
There's always one that will bind you
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try to break the chain
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try but something will never change
---
SMELL THE FLOWERS
This is how I meditate
In the black of night when it's getting late
I dream away of another place
Where people speak in melody
Sing songs all day long
Some where this exists
Don't care what anyone is telling me
Where you can hear only an angel's voice
Freedom in heaven can be your choice
Where you can fly
Even without wings
And you can smell the flowers
That the children bring
Somewhere this exists
But I ain't in no brochure
Someday when you wake up dead
You'll wash up on this shore
---
VANITY AFFAIR
You think that you are perfect
In everything you say
In everything you do
Some say what you don't know
Doesn't hurt you
And you believe it to be true
Oh but the price you will pay
You will find out some day
That day maybe today
Or it could still be far away
So you better keep on your toes
There's something everybody else knows
Inside there's a monster that grows
Underneath your pretty clothes
A vanity affair
But nobody's there
You're only cheating yourself
Either make amends
or play pretend
You're only cheating yourself
---
When you think you win you really lose
Either put on more makeup or change your shoes
You're only cheating yourself
Though you're dragging down everyone else
---
dance club whore
You can sing
You can dance
Get all us guys dreaming
About dropping your pants
Hey, that's very pretty under wear
How about showing me what you got under ther
One thing I'm knowing
Is you got us all going
You're not the type of girl
I usually write poetry for
Because behind those pearls
You're just dance club whore
---
OTHER PEOPLE'S CANCER
I've smoked so many cigarettes
I've probably given other people cancer
Light one up to kill the time
While Searching for some answers
How did I become myself?
There's a million other people I'd rather be
Why is this world so cold and dark
Is this really how it was meant to be
[illegible] my hammer
[illegible] those fences down
---
FENCES
The fences are getting taller
Leaning against them you feel smaller
No ladder around
That you've searched for and you found
Just give me a holler
No man should be caged by boundary's bound
for you it aint no bother
Just give me a holler
I'll go fetch my hammer
And knock those fences down
---
There's blood on the sheets
Which means she was pure
When we played doctor
I guess I had the cure
She used to be sick
But I thought she was well
With all the lights off
It's really hard to tell
Her pulse was racing
Heavy she was breathing
The pillow she was facing
I didn't know she was bleeding
---
NEXT STEP NEXT BREATH
Just a second could change your life
The wink of the eye of your future wife
The turn of a corner and the stab of a knife
So be aware when you go
Because you never really know
After the next step, the next breath
One life and one death
Forget all the rest
---
PLANT A TREE
Bullies trampled your garden
while you were sleeping
Better homes you weren't gaurding
The hell with Good Housekeeping
Seeds you once sowed Sown back
Now wilt in their bed
What was once growing
Now is dead
Who did it?
Who's to say
It wasn't me
Don't put fault my way
Don't point your Scorn at me
You know roses have thorns
Next time plant a tree
---
PUPPET
I am just a puppet man
Dancing for another's hand
Kicking legs from side to side
But beneath this smile I surely cry
The cross I bear is not at my back
It shadows me from up high
To the strings I'm hitched there's never any slack
Waving my arms from side to side
Isn't there a time when enough's enough
And Pinnocio thinks he had it rough
Never knowing what freedom brings
Until someone comes and cuts my strings
Then I'll be free of this disease
Free to move anywhere I please
---
Treading Water
I started drinking to drown my sorrows
I gave it up when trouble learned to swim
I treaded water for so long
I never realized how deep I was in
I tried the dead man's float
When I lost all hope
Then I started to think
After I didn't sink
That maybe I better not swim any more
In the middle of this thought
In the middle of this dream
The currents drifted me down stream
And soon I landed on the shore
Still unsure what I was swimming for
But As I was out in the water
With no one around
I believed I was alone
But trouble I still found
---
DAMSEL IN DISTRESS
She came to me late one night
As a damsel in distress
I in always the type to Lend my helping hand
To that I will surely confess
But How she knew that I would help her
Is still anybody's guess
I spotted her near the bottom of my driveway
Hiding behind my crumbling wall of stone
I wasn't sure if she was alright
But I knew that she was all alone
Because of the bag she held
I noticed that her small hands trembled
Because of the confusion in her eyes
I noticed that an infant child she resembled
Because of some weight on her shoulders
She couldn't stand very tall
Because she was crumbling like my wall
To her I softly called
There was a sparkle in her eyes
When ours did meet
She was running from trouble
Which was on the very next street
---
POSTERCHILD
Riding the peeks and valleys
of this emotional roller coaster
The day of my birth I was made the poster
child of confusion
So I never have any illusions
Don't get fooled by any illusions
of being someone else,
someone better then myself
Run over by the proverbial steam roller
While fighting for a world where I am the controller
Make enough noise and you'll get your way
Though it doesn't always happen right away
If you push hard enough it'll happen someday
It becomes even harder when you're by yourself
Look around, you don't see anyone else
As soon as they say hello
I tell them I have to leave
They sell their kind
---
A DIME A DOZEN
There's a blue sky above
But the weather's still cold
Upthere there's a rainbow
Down here everyone's looking for gold
After believing every story ever told
But me, I only want what's real
What I can see
What I can feel
No time for make believe
That's not the kind of life I lead
I no longer beg and plead
With people who deceive
As soon as they say hello
I tell them I have to leave
They sell their kind
For a dime a dozen
They're here and then gone
All of a sudden
And so I live with people who's time is wast
Basted like a turkey in an oven
---
This world makes you cling to lies
Because truth can be so cruel
Everyone makes their own rules
Some think each encounter is a potential duel
Another corner turned, another fool
Who could live in the Artic and not keep their cool
Just keep treading water in misery's pool
While being used as evil's tool
Chasing a carrot on a stick just like a mule
Some may call them an ass
It depends on who you ask
They're setting themselves up for a fall
That's why I don't call them at all
If you ask them
They'll say they're doing fine
Ask me and you'll get a piece of my mind
Before I go on
Ranting and Raving
Complaining and talking
Are you one of them
Or should I leave
And keep on walking?
---
Empty Eyes
It's not that I'd rather be alone
Then be by your side
But the strongest feelings I have for you
Are the ones that I hide
My empty eyes
You could never look inside
Once you break the chains
There is no more compromise
Broken
No more I love yous
Spoken
Crying
Is what she's been doing because I was
Lying
[Faint text: since I've been old enough to love]
[Faint text: The winds of the world]
[Faint text: Proof blowin colder]
You can't prove your love when you don't speak the
Truth
[Faint text: That what is deep down is not real]
[Faint text: ... ones to breaking hearts]
[Faint text: ... tell her so and them chain away]
Leaving she's
Is what was doing now, No more
Deceiving
---
My love came and left
Disappeared into the night
Floated up by the moon
Then vanished out of sight
Her love came
But never went away
Probably rattles around her mind
Even now about every other day
It Seems the nature of women
Is that emotion rules all
The reason they rise
And the reason they fall
Seems I've always worn
My heart upon my shoulder
But ever since I've been old enough to love
The winds of the world
Keeps blowin colder
The only feelings I conceal
That what is deep down is not real
Is when it comes to breaking hearts
I serve deception and untrue love in equal parts
I know I should just tell her so and then run away
No matter when she knows she'll still cry anyway
---
Fears of hers
Have been replaced by
Tears of hers
Thoughts of me
Flash pictures in her memory
About how someone so dear to me
Could drive me to insanity
By heading a giant conspiracy
If my children ever mirrored me
I'd lock 'em out of the house
And throw away the key
Double standards don't apply to me
---
Sorrow's Curves
The lines on her face
I slowly traced
Everyone held the curve of sorrow
The expression of her face
Showed she only knew one taste
Her lips were always curved around a bottle
Her deep circled eyes
Showed very little surprise
There's not much she hasn't seen
Dark blemishes on her skin
Told of the places she's been
Still discolored though newly scrubbed clean
---
Hate Crimes
There's hate crimes
Going on all the time
In the early morning
In the middle of the night
It's white on black
Then it's black on white
No matter the color
They still fight
There's hate crimes
Problems rising out of sight
People losing track
of what's wrong and what's right
---
Lost and Found
I see what you have the street
And I want it ng side of the road
And it will be mine many orders
I'll pay any cost at I'm told
Someday you will turn around winter
And she will not be near windows down
As I will find laugh as all
What you have lost people frown
And you will begin to hate it
But it was all premeditated busy
Just when you thought you had everything together
I finally convinced her that she can do better
---
BUS STOP PEOPLE
Driving down the street
On the wrong side of the road
Following too many orders
I won't do what I'm told
In the middle of the winter
You put your windows down
And you laugh as all
The bus stop people frown
I'd pick them up
But I'm far too busy
It just shows you need a car
To get around in this city
---
A broken mirror
Lies shattered on the floor
In beautiful patterns
Of Distorted reflections
Once one point of view
Now judged by many
No more hiding in the cracks
Of Misgiven perception
What was once smooth is now jagged
Once pure is now blemished
Whatwas once tailored is now ragged
Disregarded not cherrished
---
UH, That's Christmas, Nana
Has anyone seen my apron?
Has anyone seen my keys?
I can't see too well without my glasses
And I lost them too while cooking peas
By the way, do you know where my truck is?
I could have sworn I drove it home
But at least I know when my birthday is
Because this nice man who knew I'd forget
Kindly carved it on a stone
Well thanks for helping me find my apron
I left it hanging from my waist
Then when I opened the door to my truck
In the ignition were the keys I'd misplaced
Maybe I'll remember where I left my glasses
After a good night's sleep so I'll go to bed
But wouldn't you know it that when
I looked in the mirror to brush my teeth
Those darn glasses were around my head
This is just part of growing older
When you forget more than most people remember
I just hope you don't forget my birthday
On the twenty fifth day of December
---
DAY DREAMING
Day dreaming of you
That's what I do
To pass each day
That you're away
While my arms are empty
My head is swimming
While my heart is full
Of the love I'm giving
Everytime I feel a fall
Any time I have a fear at all
Sweet memories of you I recall
I hug them like a little boy teddy bear
I hug them like a little girl does a doll
My memories are my company
When ever I turn and you're not there
Where ever I come to find myself
I hold them tight when I am scared
Then there's a CALMNESS in the air
Oh how sweet the taste
Staring into a beautiful daydream
That is your face
---
War... On and on it goes
Soaked in red become your clothes
But in the battle of minds no one's ever been killed
No external bruises in the war of wits and wills
Yes I too looked long ago
for a friend who turned into a foe
as soon as you walked inside the door
My palms were sweating
I was still unsure of what I was getting
or what was in store
when I learned
easy you can get burned
promised myself I wouldn't go there any more
---
You can walk through the city
Searching for peace
But you'll probably find war
Yes I too looked long ago
For a friend who turned into a foe
As soon as you walked inside the door
My palms were sweating
I was still unsure of what I was getting
Into or what was instore
But when I learned
How easy you can get burned
I promised myself I wouldn't go there any more
Now I hide
Way up North I reside
Where the only things flying are the birds
When the trees softly speak
Their advice I seek
Though they're not saying any words
---
I don't try to teach
I don't try to preach
That's not the way
That people get reached
When I speak
I don't try to say
I don't try to tell
You're not trying to buy
I'm not trying to sell
So I try to show
And that works pretty well
You don't have to be a farmer
In order to live off the land
Neither do you have to be taught
In order to understand
You choosing right or wrong
Whether you build or you break
Is not the reason for this song
Or all this hard ache
---
For some people they just get it
They know the know
The amount of the time it takes the others
Is slow, slow, slow
I don't know what the reasons Are
why it takes so much time
I still haven't figured it all out so far
Why some people are so blind, blind, blind
---
On the pouring rain
Look into my heart
Look inside your soul
Do you see they are the same?
Have you ever gazed beneath my eyes
And what I attempt to hide
Just like a children's game?
My emotion tells me
to tell you I love you
But my mind is so scared of the pain
What if when I tell you
That you're my sunshine
It begins to rain?
I could never risk to lose you as a friend
Nor could I ever break my heart again
My only fears are if I wait
Then maybe that would be too late
Look into my heart
Take a look inside my soul
Can you feel the warmth of a fire
Burning out of control?
---
I could live for you
I would die for you
But I'll cry for you
If you want me to
With the angel inside you
No man could deny you
What I have come to understand
You hold my world in your hand
Since I met you
I've never been the same
When the world is quiet
I hear your name
When I'm by your side
I feel no pain
I'm warm and dry
In the pouring rain

Sick of this and that
You know the same old shit

You may have come so far
But it's the same old song

Freedom has a voice
But what if you have no choice
When she calls your name

Not much he left unconquered
But She won't leave your mind
Love like that will drive you bonkers
Is'nt that why you left the last one alone
Said you've eaten your cake
Now its time to go home
As the music fades into the walls
How much can you take?

MORAL MESSAGES
ODE TO JASON
(A FALLEN HERO)
This is a story about a boy whose dog ran away
Who, during a snowstorm, went out to play
Jason set out to find a loved one - no matter what the cost
But as the dog came home the little boy became lost
When you're a fourth grader finding a dog is no easy task
Should you risk your life for a pet? It depends on whom you ask
The fact that Jason said yes should come as no surprise
He loved that dog to pieces you could see it in his eyes
Little Jason was a hero so he set out through the snow
So it saddens my heart deeply to tell his tale of woe
What a brave little soul, right up until the end
What a brave little soul to go search for his friend
A little bit of inspiration is what he left behind
He listened to his heart, paid no attention to his mind
And right before he left our world with the situation oh so grim
The last thought that filled his head - his dog would do the same for him
The saddest of it all and the reason why we cried
If not for the heart of an angel he never would have died
When you think of him in memory try to wipe away your tears
And remember him for what he was which is wise beyond his years
FOLLOWING THE BLIND
Such a waste of time...
Following the blind
Open up your eyes
Haven't you realized?
'Tis better to lead them...
And still be breathing
Than it is to follow
And be the one left bleeding
Never wading in the springs of freedom...
And not understanding these things I speak of
Contemplating something hollow and misleading
And it brings many things...
Such as a false disguise by a gypsy king
In his lies we discover many truths...
Through his eyes we uncover his abuse
And his song of sorrow so many sing
For only a fool would break the sole rule...
Of the creator of thought
The earth shaker
The maker of everything
And all that there is to believe in or be bought
Is there really a tomorrow?

"If you were ever curious about how Holden Caulfield and John Lennon would feel about the world today then have I got something for you... POEMS BY TOM is a collection of 130 poems meant to be read in order just like a novel. This book is a blend of song-based poems, commentary, supporting information and famous (and some not-so-famous) quotes all meant to enlighten the average reader. Ultimately, this is a book of poetry for those people who do not traditionally enjoy books of poetry. Okay, here's the deal: I always wanted to be a rock star but I can't sing. Over the last ten years I have developed my talent for writing song lyrics but they're not really commercial because I try to use my writing skills to free people's minds - not brainwash them into buying some silly crap that they don't need. Mostly everything inside of these pages is here to get people to start thinking about the world we live in and how we can make it better. These poems and commentary that I tell my life story - making sure to point out exactly where I did good and, conversely, just where I made a few mistakes along the way. I write about everything from being in love to September 11th to bottling drugs and alcohol. I have poems about politics, racism [and] a quick... give... life on..."
"...I am a college graduate with a very unique... Some of the things that I say or write you will [not necessarily] agree with me on and some of the other things you will make... you want to ring my neck but I can promise... make you think. Oh yeah, you may... he's such a great writer then why didn't... name for his book? My answer is because... 800 poems in my life (all with titles) I told myself that's... enough already - I'm finished with titles for awhile."

Dedication:
This book is dedicated to my father. I am living proof of the tremendous impact that a great male role model can have in not only a child's life but also an adult's life. Luckily, my old man is still kicking and even though no one would ever argue that he is a perfect man he is the closest thing to a perfect parent that I ever needed (or wanted). If he was tremendously wealthy then I would be a different person than I am today; in the same respect if he was dirt poor then I would also have ended up being someone different - he did just well enough to put me in good enough shape so he could help me but not so good that I never had to work myself.
I always believed that your parents or guardians have the capability to teach you everything that you need to know in life - everything that he did wrong I try to do the complete opposite of and everything that he did right I try to emulate. Come on now...what else do you need in life to teach you? He taught me right from wrong and wrong from right even though he didn't always know which lesson he was teaching at the time. He always meant well and what more can one ask of anybody in this world other than that? Exactly. That is the best that anyone can hope for and luckily I am very blessed in this regard.
"The man who doesn't read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them [at all]." - Mark Twain, American author (1835 - 1910).

A PERFECT WORLD
'The whole world's a fight / I can't get no peace / I've spent my whole life / Looking for what I can't see / For what will never be / As the only thing that will set me free / Is an unknown memory / That somewhere and somehow / Lives inside of me / Inside a locked door / For which there is no key // The whole world's a fight / My mind gets disrupted when it's at ease / Watching the sunset is a long forgotten art / Feet so busy walking separate from the heart / When was the last time you noticed the moon? / I'm surprised you've forgotten so soon / There's so much more than what you've been told / Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold? // This set pattern you follow is just one of their lies / A world lacking communion, only me's and I's / Through competition our brotherhood has been broken / As no one's acknowledged these words that I've spoken / Everything, even people, filed by order and rank / Number one built the Titanic yet down it sank / There's still time left to return these ideas you've been sold / Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold? // Some say if winning isn't everything than why keep score? / Those same people send other mother's sons to war / I could be like you or maybe someone else / One step towards them and one away from myself / Sometimes they see me and ask me 'How I feel?' / I respond, 'Like a hamster on a rusty wheel' / If you feel trapped like a rat in this world so cold / Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold? // I'll keep on fighting no matter what's in store / But at least I'll know what I'm fighting for / My own little peaceful and quiet patch in this land so vast / This world makes me dizzy because it's moving too fast / Round and round they go as they spin their wheels / Trying hard to keep their poker face on when the dealer deals / Stop going for broke when you'll win if you hold / Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold? // The brokers in their suits and ties walking down Wall Street / The ones with the diamond watches and their hair so neat / They get so stressed out playing all their Wall Street games / They get home and yell at their wives / And forget their own kids' names / All for the love of money and nothing more / If they call that rich then you can call me poor / If they tell you the lie 'all that glitters is gold' / Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold? // As I climb up the mountains and float over the sea / I find myself alone and contented and alive and free / No need to look at my watch or punch a clock / And I notice my feet when I go for a walk / It could be like this if enough people believe / Just as the wind blows a flower, I'm planting my seed / The time has come for us to break the mold / Rise up in rebellion, could we be so bold? // The whole world's a fight / I can't get no peace / My mind gets disrupted when it's at ease / An uphill battle right from the start / Feet so busy walking separate from the heart / When was the last time you noticed the moon? / I'm surprised you've forgotten so soon / So concerned with the future that the present is gone / Never taking time to stand still / We just keep on moving on / Why not take a break before you break / For we're all judged by the choices we make'.
'The origins of this poem began when I took a trip: an acid trip. I was taking the train home from landscaping one beautiful summer's day when I overheard some high school kids talking about drugs... once they got off of the train in Salem (my stop as well) I said, Hey man... Ten dollars later I had it in my hands...' describes writing the poem's six verses in six different colors of marker while tripping, visiting a park referenced in his poem 'Innocense Lost', and discovering the notebook weeks later, concluding 'It has become my own personal work of art - my theme song to my life - my mission statement. It sums up everything that I believe in.'

I'll keep on fighting no matter what's in store
But at least I'll know what I'm fighting for
My own little peaceful and quiet patch in this land so vast
This world makes me dizzy because it's moving too fast
Round and round they go as they spin their wheels
Trying hard to keep their poker face on when the dealer deals
Stop going for broke when you'll win if you hold
Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold?
The brokers in their suits and ties walking down Wall Street
The ones with the diamond watches and their hair so neat
They get so stressed out playing all their Wall Street games
They get home and yell at their wives
And forget their own kids' names
All for the love of money and nothing more
If they call that rich then you can call me poor
If they tell you the lie 'all that glitters is gold'
Rise up in rebellion, could you be so bold?
As I climb up the mountains and float over the sea
I find myself alone and contented and alive and free
No need to look at my watch or punch a clock
And I notice my feet when I go for a walk
It could be like this if enough people believe
Just as the wind blows a flower, I'm planting my seed
The time has come for us to break the mold
Rise up in rebellion, could we be so bold?

BOO HOO HOO
You said you'd had enough of this...bag of shit
You've got to give it up and you got to give it up quick
You said that you never believed that it would come to this
Giving up what you need...could you ever picture it?
Nah, I don't think you could never picture it
Everybody's got something that they'll never tell
But you've been keeping secrets from yourself
Cross your heart and hope to die
Is living in a dream the same as living in a lie?
Have you ever stopped to wonder...
About whether or not you've fallen under?
You might have thought once
But you sure didn't think twice
Probably never bothered to think at all
Now you've found yourself a prisoner of your own device
You turned around and said "Jesus Christ! Who built this wall?"
'Twas you...a little by little every day
'Twas you who...now know the price that someday you'll pay
Because that someday is today and some things have gone astray
"'Twas not me...who kept you from being free" I can honestly say
So go boo hoo hoo to someone other than me...
Please, please...just go away
You claim up and down
That you're the victim of circumstances beyond your control
But when it's easy to pick up then it's probably harder to put down
And you decided to take your chances so your luck is your own

MORAL MESSAGES section - "ODE TO JASON (A FALLEN HERO)": 'This is a story about a boy whose dog ran away / Who, during a snowstorm, went out to play / Jason set out to find a loved one - no matter what the cost / But as the dog came home the little boy became lost / When you're a fourth grader finding a dog is no easy task / Should you risk your life for a pet? It depends on whom you ask / The fact that Jason said yes should come as no surprise / He loved that dog to pieces so he set out through the snow / Little Jason was a hero so he set out through the snow / So it saddens my heart deeply to tell his tale of woe / What a brave little soul, right up until the end / What a bit of inspiration is what he left behind / He listened to his heart, paid no attention to his mind / And right before he left our world with the situation oh so grim / The last thought that filled his head - his dog would do the same for him / The saddest of it all and the reason why we cried / If not for the heart of an angel he never would have died / When you think of him in memory try to wipe away your tears / And remember him for what he was which is wise beyond his years'; "FOLLOWING THE BLIND": 'Such a waste of time... Following the blind... Open up your eyes... Haven't you realized? / 'Tis better to lead them... And still be breathing... Than it is to follow... And be the one left bleeding // Never wading in the springs of freedom... And not understanding these things I speak of... Contemplating something hollow and misleading // And it brings many things... Such as a false disguise by a gypsy king... In his lies we discover many truths... Through his eyes we uncover his abuse... And his song of sorrow so many sing // For only a fool would break the sole rule... Of the creator of thought / The earth shaker / The maker of everything / And all that there is to believe in or be bought / Is there really a tomorrow?' HUMOROUS section: "GILLIGAN SMILES" - 'I give....They take / They live....I die trying to save a drowning doggy from the lake / I give...And they take some more / Both me and the doggy never paddle back to shore / Yeah the boat floats / But I ain't on it / It's not named the minnow it's the escargot / And no, I don't want it / Yeah, Gilligan's got it / But it's Mrs. Howell who flaunts it / It's Ginger who gives it / But it's Marianne who really wants it / Gilligan has just got to be a little more responsive'; "CAN'T DANCE IN THESE PANTS" - 'I said, "Hunny, I'd love to...but I can't" / I can't dance in these pants, they're too big - I need a belt / But nobody'll give me one / 'Cause the last time they did - I tried to hang myself'; "THE CHROMOSOME KID" - 'The neighborhood bullies called him the chromosome kid / He used to bag groceries at Stop and Shop / But the managers didn't quite like his style / So now he's collecting carts out in the parking lot / He never had a chance to cut the cards / And they stacked the deck / Now he's left standing in the rain / What else would you expect?'; "THE DOCTOR'S CURE" - 'She used to be sick / But now I think she is well / But with all the lights off / It's really hard to tell / Her pulse was racing / And heavy she was breathing / Because the pillow she was facing'. LIFE PHILOSOPHY section: "ANOTHER HISTORY LESSON" (references 'no more playing follow the leader', 'history is cyclical and I'm a big reader'), "THE PARADIGM (JUST AS)" (references design/mold mankind, mastermind). FIGHTING LIFE section: "ANOTHER MONTH AWAY", "CALL IT FATE" (references cancer, hospital, dying wife, 'you can call it fate...you can call it a shame'), a third untitled poem about a hospital birth/death juxtaposition ('In the next room of the hospital is a mother's joy / The prize of a life - a baby boy / Parents counted the fingers and counted the toes... So no one knows why he grew to kill... You can look at their deaths and who they blame'). DRUGS tab: "ALCOHOL" - personifying alcohol as an abusive on-again off-again partner ('I am a victim, though I feel like a hero / You make me feel like number one yet I'm a zero... Still I come back to you... I'm the one who pays the price... Why won't you let me be?').
---
"DREAM LAND", "BECAUSE YOU'RE MY BABY", "BIGGEST SURPRISE", "KICKING THE CAN" ('This woman I'd been dating for nearly a year... Said her chains had been broken and she's no longer bound / To me, former lover, getting outta town'), "MUST HAVE SEEN HIM FIRST", "TEN FEET TALL", "AT LEAST ONE A DAY" (religious, 'I've found someone to believe in... finally saw Jesus in a living, breathing and walking hymn'), a handwritten red-ink note reading "GOD IS ALIVE :)", "CHOOSING YOUR RELIGION" / "A STRANGER IN THE MANGER" (religious satire referencing baptism and sin), "FEED THE BIRDS" ('I always feed the birds but sometimes I shoot at the people... We believe in some kind of higher power but we never worship at the steeple... there's more than just one great book, oh yeah, and its sequel'), an untitled poem under LOST INNOSCENCE/DEATH & SUFFERING tabs beginning 'A life based on the movies / Another nine o'clock special / Not suitable for children / Maybe violent, deadly and racial - NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN', "NO SUCH LUCK" under the POLITICS/FUCK BUSH tab ('When you feel like you can't trust the government / Then whom can you trust? / Since you've all ready given up on love / And now you settle for lust'), "BEEN THERE BEFORE" (bear/cave metaphor about anger and territory), "SINK OR SWIM" ('I guess you shouldn't try to be a shepherd / When all your sheep jump off the cliff / But you can't see inside my conscience / And all the pain I'm living with').

ESCAPING THE DEMONS
By Tom Jensen
- Poetry inspired by fighting against the
toughest opponent known to man - himself.
All poems within this book are about battling drugs and alcohol. The
purpose of this book is to offer inspiration to anybody who is fighting the
same disease as me. This is just one man's story. But it may be your story
as well. The goal of this collection of poems is not for profit; its only goal is
for sobriety.

ALISON'S AIRPLANE
I find my religion in the basement of churches
Never mind a pew
Here I sit trying to learn from my mistakes
God knows I've made a few
If you'd made as many as I have
Then you'd probably sit here too
Here I sit and reminisce it all
Just biding my time
By reading slogans on the wall
A higher power is what I need
Maybe something above myself can set me free
For you can only tell what you're really worth
When you realize that you're not
The center of the earth
The sun does not rise for you
No matter how much you want it to
Gravity was made for many reasons
Something to do with the tide, the sun, the moon
And the changing of the seasons
It may be true that it pulls you down
But in order to walk the road ahead
First your feet must meet the ground
Then the rest is up to you
Use your better judgment if you want to
If you choose to walk back down the road
From which you came
Don't point your finger at me
That finger of blame
Alison told me she had an airplane
And of course I didn't believe it
So I asked her to teach me how to fly
But she told me I couldn't see it
She said if you want to go for a ride
First you must know that the airplane's inside
At the time I didn't quite know
Just exactly what she meant
But now I realize that
Alison's Airplane is Heaven sent
ALCOHOL
I am a victim
Though I feel like a hero
You make me feel like number one
And yet I'm a zero
All this you put me through
And still I go back to you
What is wrong with me?
Why can't you let me be?
I saw you once, then I saw you twice
Now I see you all the time
When everything is said and done
I'm the one who pays the price
You've never treated me kind
I had to descend from the highest mountains
Just to come back to earth
Leave me climbing up the slopes of the valleys
For what any of it is worth
Still I come back to you
After all that you put me through
You and I walked hand in hand
And I picked you up when you fell
I thought you were my ticket to heaven
But still I landed here in hell
Our conversations were one-sided
I never tried to hide it
You've never given me good advice
Still I come back to you
When everything is said and done
I'm the one who pays the price
Every time I try to stay away
You cross my path nearly everyday
I fight so hard to walk a straight line
I fight so hard to leave you behind
Once false step and I'm back again
No further on then where I began
Still I come back to you
After all that you put me through
I am a victim
Though I feel like a hero
You make me feel like number one
And yet I'm a zero
All this you put me through
And still I go back to you
What is wrong with me?
Why can't you let me be?

About the author:
My name is Tom and I'm an addict and alcoholic. (Hello, right back to
you) I started partying at the age of about fifteen and it took me ten long
years to reach the total sobriety that I now fully enjoy. I did everything and I
finally quit everything. Most of you know that story - the first part, anyways. I
am an aspiring songwriter and have been writing mostly song-based poetry
for about six years. I am presently a college student (only 2 classes left-
hooray!) majoring in English and minoring in History, not to mention a
budding young journalist for a local Massachusetts paper.
I believe in the powers of AA and NA, but ultimately, I had to fight this
battle on my own. I am not affiliated with any local chapters or anything like
that, but I believe that the there is no stronger bond that two people can
have than that found between two ex-addicts/alcoholics. I consider myself to
be a pretty talented writer who has wisdom beyond my 25 years. I've written
over 600 poems and songs over the last six years and I am finally ready to
let them be seen. I decided that since I have spent so many countless hours
writing about the struggles against addiction then I might as well start with
the people who have suffered as I have. These poems are meant to be
sung - so sing them with all of your heart if that's what it takes. Getting
sober wasn't easy, but I did it. And you can do it, too!
So anytime you feel alone and don't think that you can go another
second without giving in - I'll be with you within these pages. I have faith in
you- but that means nothing unless you have faith in YOURSELF. I learned
that the hard way. My story and your story is probably the same story. My
story has a happy ending - and if you have enough courage and
perseverance, then yours will, too. [private detail]
I can be reached at [private detail] if anyone is
interested in any of my other writings that deal with happier topics - like the
Red Sox - well, maybe that's a bad example. And please let me know if any
of these poems help you. That's why I wrote them. They helped me help get
myself to where I am now. And because of that, I can now focus on helping
others. I'm not looking to make any money from this collection of poems.
This is just my way of trying to make this world a better place in which to
live. I'm simply attempting to help out the people who are trying to help
themselves.
Take things one second at a time if that's what it takes. Believe me
when I say that it will be worth it.
LIVE THE DREAM!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Tom Jensen

Fading fast

Father? son? spirit?
For her, nah, for me
Hundred dollar headaches....13
All bottled up
The basement
Another cigarette....14
Getting stronger
All I've got
Always moving

American dream
Abracadabra
Blue skies
Bullets from the store....16
Escaping the demons
Walking alone
Which way to the bridge?
Watering the weeds....17

LET ME LIVE THE DREAM
I woke up
My mind was racing
When my feet hit the floor
They soon started pacing
Craving the apple
I once was tasting
Footsteps to the past
I began retracing
Running from old enemies
I once was facing
All the while believing
I was escaping
I never show my weakness
Even when I am breaking inside
The only thing stronger than my ego
Is my foolish sense of pride
Sometimes I sacrifice all I've made
To live within a lie
The only cross to which I'm bound
Is burning me alive
Oh my, my, my, my...let me live the dream
Of escaping the demons...alive and unseen
From the blaring whispers of compulsion
Very few mortals can hide
Freedom is just another word for failure
For all those who have lost when they've tried
For the key to unlocking the mind is different
To each, be them young or old
In trying to reach the unknown
They've been searching for
Yet have never been able to hold
Oh my, my, my, my...let me live the dream
Of escaping the demons...alive and unseen
I tried staying with my own kind
I even tried swimming within my own mind
But so slowly the path unwinds
Though I keep following what I hope to find
Even when life looks grave
As you're running out of time
Could reality ever match my dream?
Will the nightmare ever end?
Will a new day ever begin?
Can I learn to make myself whole again?
To live without and change within
Oh my, my, my, my...let me live the dream
Of escaping the demons...alive and unseen
Out of sight can mean out of mind
Yet what I am running from is not far behind
Once distant memories now mirror the present
As the shadowless clock has stopped telling time
Oh my, my, my, my...let me live the dream
Of escaping the demons...alive and unseen
You can't escape the voices
Echoing inside of your ear
As thoughts become desires
Speaking all too loud and clear
Although you may bow your head
While pretending not to hear
Even when the calming silence is gone
You still know that it is there
Oh my, my, my, my...let me live the dream
Of escaping the demons...alive and unseen
The ritual of repetition can rip a man apart
Breaking the chains is only way to stay alive
Though some believe the one true answer
Can solely be found in the heart
Yet those who know of freedom
Say will power is the only way to survive
Oh my, my, my, my...let me live the dream
Of escaping the demons...alive and unseen
QUITTING
It is still early although it's getting late
It has finally come so I no longer wait
They set the trap
And I took the bait
Out here in the street
As I hide within the shadows
I have decided my fate
I followed the tracks
While warding off their attacks
Seeking a safe shelter
Now there's no more turning back
I have looked at the calendar
But have yet to set a date
I'm finding the error of my ways
I just hope I'm not too late
My poetry is my dying word
Yet some may say that
At twenty-something this just sounds absurd
But down in my soul
I know I'm fading fast
When my time comes
Will I leave something that lasts?

AMONG FRIENDS
Whenever you feel down...
When in your mind you feel truly alone
Take a walk among the dead
Read each name upon each stone
And if your eyes don't change...
Then join them in name
Join them in spirit
Be one in the same
But don't let your judgment fail you
Know what you're finding before it's found
Don't ever let your cross nail you
A weight so heavy it'll drag you down
AMERICAN DREAM
I am trying to unlearn
What all the teachers have taught me
I am trying to unlock an original thought
But I have no key
I am trying to believe that it's better than it seems
Or at least what I can see
I am trying to achieve the American Dream
Of leaving a legacy behind me
I am surely not a rich man
But certainly a wise man because I understand
That there are greater things than money
And sweeter things than honey in this land
I am angered at my situation
As I am slowly sinking in yellow sand
I've become a stranger through separation
While parting ways with my fellow man
I am not the type to keep out of trouble
I always find myself walking among the rubble
I often drive down streets that say do not enter
I am not the kind to keep many secrets
Or the type to go out hunting rabbits
Or a man who'll let his lady be cold in the winter
I am not to blame for the sad state of this affair
I am not one to hide in my room
Pretending that there's nothing else out there
ABRACADABRA
Eight years of self-purification
Eight years of cleansing the soul
After sixteen long years of long hesitation
I'm now finding diamonds
Where there once was only coal
Once I played follow the leader
Once I was led by the collar
Once I lost to myself - my only defeater
Once I worshipped the almighty dollar
Two tormented years of separation
Twenty-nine teachers squashed into the equation
Tom loses his right to motor vehicle operation
Soon he enters rehabilitation
And then makes phone calls to probation
She is the wind, which gently guides my direction
Drifting by some other breeze
Would simply be the wrong selection
She who sets a fly my sails
Look into her eyes as I inhale
And she even carries twenty-five dollars
Just incase I need bail...money
That's not funny!
She is simply living and breathing inspiration
And she will always be my teacher
As I finally found out that there is a God
Who else could ever create
Such a wonderful creature?
(It's not like abracadabra)
BLUE SKIES
When blue skies
Can only be seen through windows
It may be time to change your ways
When you smell trouble whenever the wind blows
You may be going through more
Than just a phase
A phase can become a habit
Just as soon as you turn around
You can find yourself swept off your feet
Before they even touch the ground
But when you come back to earth
You'll still be seeing stars
With your picture taken and fingers painted
You'll be spending your time behind bars
And there are better places to be...
Just take it from me
---
22
IRON WILL
My senses are now sharp as a tack
For so long the five points on my star
Were so very, very dull
I gathered my horse and my wagon
And I got back on track
Freed myself from that living hell
Every hoof print and footstep
Leads me farther away
After the tall mountains I climbed and survived
From here it's all down hill
Passing abandoned ghost towns
Full of crumbling decay
When your only defense
Is an iron will
You cannot listen to what others say
Following the stars as I'm on my horse
My mind set on the miles ahead
I'm now setting my own course
Because I'm so sick of being led
I'm heading north
Yeah, that's what I said
I traded my pistol for some blankets
Which I'll need to keep me warm
Given up my shot glass for a poncho
That will protect me from the storm
I've sold my past to buy some time
Until I find some more piece of mind
Traded my ladder for a good parachute
Because I no longer have to climb
CROSSING CANYONS
So you think you've felt pain?
Why don't you try changing
Into a new pair of shoes?
With everything you've gained
How could you ever feel
Like you've got nothing to lose?
The mountains you've climbed
It is only you who know the cost
Though you know that some people
Have had everything and still became lost
They somehow lost it all
Even the deepest of canyons
Are still able to be crossed
Only if you're too meek to try
Clutching the ground
So afraid to be tossed
Will you ever fall, fall, fall
DISCIPLE OF DIRT
Just what will break the spell?
So many claim to know
Yet so few tell
Why is it so?
Maybe it's just as well?
To just let it go...
Ah, what the hell?
There's only one way to know
Whether to buy or sell
On which road to go
There's only one man in the know
Though long ago he fell
So what's a disciple of dirt like me to do?
No one left to follow
No one to lead me
A blind detective in a world full of clues
Only able to be captured
No one to free me
So many choices
So little time to choose
Want to hide away where no one can see me
Much to gain
But even more to lose
Rest in the safety
That no one else will ever be me
Book of all my poetry lies dusty on the shelf
My inspiration lost and found by someone else
Dreams of tomorrow
Oh who the hell even cares?
Everyday we all take a good look in the mirror
And wonder if it's time to face our fears?
Burned up, burned out or maybe no flame at all
With no desire to climb there's no risk to fall
Stick to safe ground like a hamster on wheel
Lacking love and hate
So that there's nothing left to feel
PADDED ROOM
In here...
The only thing I look forward to is smoking
That's the only time we get to go outside
Though it may sound like I'm joking
In here...
In my padded room
You know it really hurts my pride
---
28
UNCHARTED WATERS
I am the captain of my mind
Hitting into icebergs all the time
No one is as good as me
When I want to be
Yet no one has ever chartered
Through deeper and rougher waters
But you just hope you float
When you name your boat
Napoleon's Daughter
PRETTY TOYS
With every hurled stone that is cast
I walk one step closer to becoming broken
With every coming sunset I manage to outlast
Ahead lies a sunrise
By which I may not be awoken
With every cigarette I smoke
I see a little sign of cancer
With every question I begin to ask
I come closer to the answer
Uncertainty
Expectancy
Start planning everything
Just how you want to be
Directed
Selected
Born to be special
Though somehow neglected
When you looked within your empty eyes
You created a fantasy world to fill the void
Then you played some music to cover your sighs
And you filled your room with pretty toys
Connect the stars until you find some meaning
Worship the statues you have carved in stone
Fight the conscience you've been deceiving
Pray to yourself that you're not alone
So don't disparage
About this fake and hollow marriage
Or you'll be forever condemned to roam
A unity of mind, body and soul
Can only be perfected
Once you maintain complete control
When this insanity is finally rejected
You shall cease drifting aimlessly
Look deep within to see
If everything is exactly how you want it to be?
Further words
Need not be addressed
I wrote the beginning
It's up to you to write the rest.......

DEDICATION: This book is dedicated to anyone who has ever stood up to
somebody who told them that they couldn't do something - even if that person
was yourself...perhaps especially if that person was yourself. Please dispense of
all your fears in the wastepaper basket located over on the floor there to your
right. Thank you. Have a nice day.

ALL LYRICS (c) COPYWRITTEN BY TOM JENSEN on 2011 or before...
Date of this new anthology is February 19th, 2011
NOTE TO READER - THIS ANTHOLOGY IS BROKEN DOWN INTO SIX PARTS:
(1) SUMMARIES - short descriptions of all poems and songs contained in this
anthology.
(2) DISSIDENT SECTION - poems drawing attention to things that need major
fixing and changing in this world. Inequality, injustice, lying, greed,
corporatism, politics and many other evils are addressed here.
(3) POEMS SECTION - poems and lyrics waiting for music are here. This section
is not overly offensive or political and contains poems and lyrics waiting for
music.
(4) SONGS SECTION - song titles, lyrics and musician / singer names are found
here.
(5) OFFENSIVE SECTION - this is where the naughty poems and lyrics are found.
This section contains poems and lyrics that deal with subjects and language
that many of you may find offensive. Hence it is in its own section
(6) ALPHABETICAL INDEX - a quick reference section of all mixed poems, songs,
dissident and offensive lyrics sorted alphabetically (by title) with
corresponding page number.
(continues - 491 more pages; also photographed: page 2, the DISSIDENT part of the summaries from p. 11 BATTLE CRY to p. 55 VIOLENCE IS THEIR SOLUTION and the start of POEMS at p. 57, and page 492, the end of the alphabetical index from p. 375 WARMER WATERS to p. 390 ZEROES, then THE END)

1
ACTRESS By Brian Rainstorm
It's time to write you out of the story
Since most of the lines no longer include me
I don't want you to be the star of my movie
I'm the wrong writer so why did you choose me?
When you knew you were just gonna use me
I thought I knew which way I was facing
But I was the producer that you were directing
Yet again casting made the wrong selection
But I must say that you were cast
Because your talents were vast
You were the head of your class
It sure helps to look like that:
And oh boy... could you act
You smiled porcelain glass
Leaving an impression that lasts
I find my mind awaken from its nap
Blinking and thinking:
Oh what a fine piece of a$$
It's time to write you out of the story
Since most of the lines no longer include me
I don't want you to be the star of my movie
I'm the wrong writer so why did you choose me?
When you knew you were just gonna use me
I thought I knew which way I was facing
But I was the producer that you were directing
Yet again casting made the wrong selection
ADVICE By Brian Rainstorm
I woke up this morning
Feeling cold and alone
I woke up this morning
After another night at home
All by myself
Sad and alone
All by myself
So I picked up the phone...
Oh won't you please

ACTRESS By Brian Rainstorm
It's time to write you out of the story
Since most of the lines no longer include me
I don't want you to be the star of my movie
I'm the wrong writer so why did you choose me?
When you knew you were just gonna use me
I thought I knew which way I was facing
But I was the producer that you were directing
Yet again casting made the wrong selection
But I must say that you were cast
Because your talents were vast
You were the head of your class
It sure helps to look like that:
And oh boy... could you act
You smiled porcelain glass
Leaving an impression that lasts
I find my mind awaken from its nap
Blinking and thinking:
Oh what a fine piece of a$$
It's time to write you out of the story
Since most of the lines no longer include me
I don't want you to be the star of my movie
I'm the wrong writer so why did you choose me?
When you knew you were just gonna use me
I thought I knew which way I was facing
But I was the producer that you were directing
Yet again casting made the wrong selection
